PGPD Arrests Man for Carjacking and Crash in Landover Hills

Dominique Tyrone Harrison

The Prince George's County Police Department arrested a man early this morning after he carjacked an SUV and then crashed it into several cars and a fast food restaurant in Landover Hills. The suspect is 21-year-old Dominique Tyrone Harrison of no fixed address.
On July 29, 2014, just after 5:00 am, patrol officers were called to the 7100 block of Annapolis Road for a report of an armed carjacking. The preliminary investigation reveals Harrison had approached the victim who was stopped at a traffic light. Initially, Harrison asked the driver for a ride. When the driver refused, Harrison implied he had a weapon and demanded the SUV.  The victim jumped from the vehicle. Harrison then got in and drove away. He only made it a short distance before striking two other cars. One of those drivers decided to follow Harrison as he tried to speed away. That's when Harrison apparently lost control of the carjacked SUV and drove it into a fast food restaurant.
Thankfully, none of the employees inside the business was hurt, although the building suffered extensive damage.  The occupants of the struck vehicles were also not injured. PGPD officers arrested Harrison on the scene. He suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Harrison faces charges related to the armed carjacking and the subsequent crashes. He has admitted his involvement in this incident. Detectives now believe Harrison may suffer from mental illness. He remains in the custody of the Department of Corrections.
