PGPD Investigates Fatal Pedestrian Collision in Riverdale Park

The Prince George's County Police Department's Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision. The victim is 31-year-old Thelma Fernandez Flores of Quintana Street in Riverdale. Her young daughter was also struck and remains in critical condition.

On September 1, 2014, at about 4:20 pm, patrol officers were called to the 5800 block of Riverdale Road for the report of a pedestrian collision. When they arrived, they found Fernandez Flores in the roadway with critical injuries. She was pronounced dead on the scene. The child was rushed to a hospital.

The preliminary investigation reveals Fernandez Flores and her daughter were struck as they crossed Riverdale Road. They were walking in a crosswalk at the time. The driver remained on the scene. He was not hurt.
