PGPD Searches for Missing Man

The Prince George’s County Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in searching for a missing person. He is identified as 58-year-old Paul Lee Fuller.

Fuller was last seen in the 2700 block of Millvale Avenue in Forestville on February 26, 2015 at about 11:00 pm.

Fuller is described as an African-American male, 5’11”, 140 pounds, with black ear length afro hairstyle. The missing was last seen wearing a gray shirt, gray sweat pants and black coat. The missing suffers from dementia and depression.

The Prince George’s County Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in searching for a missing person. She is identified as 16-year-old Janae Whilemina Johnson.

Johnson was last seen in the 5400 block of 85th Avenue in New Carrollton on February 27, 2015 at about 5:00 pm.

Johnson is described as an African-American female, 5’03”, 145 pounds, straight black medium length hair, brown Eyes and brown complexion. The missing was last seen wearing tan khaki pants, white shirt, pink hooded sweat shirt and a black Pea coat.

PGPD Searches for Missing Girl

Updated February 28, 2015: The missing has been located in good health and is back at home.


The Prince George’s County Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in searching for a missing person. She is identified as 12-year-old Shemayon May Brown.

Brown was last seen in the 9900 block of Rosaryville Road in Upper Marlboro on February 28, 2015 at about 7:45 am.

Brown is described as an African-American female, 4’8”, 88 pounds, with braids in her hair below her shoulders. She was last seen wearing a short sleeve t-shirt with a picture on the front, pink flannel pajama pants with tit-tac-toe designs, and pink slippers with multi-color flower designs. Brown is not wearing her glasses.

PGPD Remembers Fallen Officer Sergeant John Bagileo


Let us pause to remember our fallen hero Sergeant John L. Bagileo, lost this day in 1994.  

Sergeant Bagileo was born on August 21, 1967, in the District of Columbia and was raised in Montgomery County.

Sergeant Bagileo joined the Prince George's County Police Department on April 23, 1990, as a member of Session #74.  After graduation, he was assigned to the District III station.

On the evening of February 28, 1994, at about 10:00 pm, Sergeant Bagileo was dispatched to a tampering in progress in Seat Pleasant.  As Sergeant Bagileo was driving to the scene, a car pulled out from a side street right into his path.  Sergeant Bagileo executed an evasive maneuver and was able to avoid that car, but he lost control of his cruiser and struck a utility pole. Sadly, Sergeant Bagileo died from his injuries.

Sergeant Bagileo served the Prince George's County Police Department for four years and was the 20th member of this agency to make the ultimate sacrifice.  He was the 32nd law enforcement officer to give his life in service to this profession within Prince George's County.

At the time of his death, Sergeant John L. Bagileo was 26 years old and survived by his wife and daughter.

The Prince George’s County Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in searching for a missing person. She is identified as 13-year-old Kayla Corynn Claggett.

Claggett was last seen in the 1200 block of Van Buren Drive in Fort Washington on February 27, 2015 at about 9:40 am. 

Claggett is described as an African-American female, 5’10”, 250 pounds, with a curly pony tail. She was last seen wearing a black coat, black shoes, and red pants.

PGPD to Canvass Bladensburg Community in Sexual Assaults Investigation

This evening, Prince George’s County Police detectives will canvass a Bladensburg community seeking information in connection with a sexual assault this week.

On February 25, 2015, at about 7:45 pm, a man sexually assaulted a victim in the 4100 block of 54th Avenue. The victim had been walking in the area at the time.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 30 – 40 years old and around 6’0” tall. He was wearing a blue and white knit cap, a blue scarf and a black jacket.

Our detectives are preliminarily linking this suspect to two additional sexual assaults in that area in 2014. The first occurred on September 8, 2014, at about 6:45 pm. A man sexually assaulted a victim as she walked on a wooded trail in the 5100 block of Quincy Street. On October 20, 2014, at about 8:45 pm, a man assaulted a victim in the 5800 block of Annapolis Road.

Detectives will canvass the area this evening. That canvass will begin at 6:30 pm in the shopping center parking lot at 5416 Annapolis Road.

Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested


The suspect wanted in connection with a bank robbery in College Park is now in custody. He's 22-year-old Tysean Deonta Daughtry of the 1200 block of South View Drive in Oxon Hill. 


On February 20, 2015, our investigation reveals Daughtry robbed a bank in the 5600 block of Greenbelt Road. We released surveillance photos of the suspect yesterday in our weekly Wanted Wednesday bloggoo.gl/UiAbPB

Daughtry was arrested on Wednesday in a neighboring jurisdiction on an unrelated charge. He has been charged in connection with the College Park bank robbery.

WANTED WEDNESDAY

Updated February 27, 2015: The day after the release of this Wanted Wednesday blog, a tipster called and provided critical information on the identity of a robbery suspect we highlighted. The suspect and an accomplice had robbed a woman of her belongings in Lanhman. The suspects are now in custody. They’re identified as 20-year-old Mariell Zaakir Jackson of the 2900 block of Belair Drive in Bowie and 23-year-old Marcus Fernell Hood of the 8000 block of Fulton Avenue in Glenarden. We thank the tipster for reaching out to us. Anyone with any information about a crime can always call 1-866-411-TIPS. Tipsters do not have to give their name.

Bank Robbery Suspect


We’re offering a cash reward to the tipster who helps us find and arrest this bank robbery suspect. The man chose to wear a distinctive green jacket with orange strings to rob a bank last week. On February 20, 2015, at about 12:30 pm, he walked into a branch in the 5600 block of Greenbelt Road and demanded cash. The suspect then ran away with an undisclosed amount of cash. Warrant Obtained for Shooting Suspect


Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for this shooting suspect. He’s 27-year-old Joshua Donte Daley of the 5500 block of 59th Avenue in Riverdale. Our investigation reveals Daley shot an acquaintance during an argument on February 18, 2015, on 59th Avenue. The victim’s injuries are not considered life - threatening. The suspect’s car is a 2006-2013 Chevrolet Impala with Oklahoma dealer tags. If you know where we can find Daley, please call 301-699-2601 or Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS. Robbery Suspects


Please take a look at these surveillance photos. We’re working to identify and arrest the two suspects in these pictures. They’re wanted for robbing a victim of her belongings in the 9000 block of Annapolis Road in Lanham back on February 18, 2015. The victim suffered minor injuries.


The suspects are believed to be driving a dark-colored, 2-door, convertible 2001-2002 Saab 9-3. Please call 301-390-2127 or 1-866-411-TIPS with any information on these suspects. A cash reward is being offered.


Robbery Suspects



Detectives are also working to identify these two suspects linked to a robbery in Temple Hills on February 18, 2015. The investigation reveals the two men robbed two victims of their personal property in the 4300 block of 23rd Parkway at about 8:00 pm. One of the suspects had a gun. The victims were not hurt. The Prince George’s County Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in searching for a missing person. She is identified as 78-year-old Ethel McKay.

McKay was last seen in the 800 block of Cox Avenue in Hyattsville on February 22, 2015.

McKay is described as an African American female, 5’2”, 203 pounds, medium complexion, and has mixed grey hair. She was last seen wearing a white gown with a blue robe.

She may be in need of medication.

PGPD Searches for Missing Boy

The Prince George’s County Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in searching for a missing person. He is identified as 15-year-old Nelson Romero Similian.

Similian was last seen in the 8000 block of 14th Avenue in Hyattsville on February 16, 2015.

Similian is described as a Hispanic male, 5’3”, 130 pounds, with short black hair. He was last seen wearing a red North Face jacket, green sweatpants, and purple Vans.

Chief Magaw to Testify to Presidential Task Force


Prince George’s County Police Chief Mark Magaw will testify next week before the President’s Task Force on 21st Century Policing. Chief Magaw has been invited to discuss the topic of Officer Safety and Wellness.

The President’s Task Force is working to identifying ways to strengthen public trust and foster strong relationships between police departments nationwide and the communities they serve. President Obama established this task force in December 2014.

Chief Magaw is set to testify before the panel on Monday, February 23, 2015. The event will be held at the Newseum in Northwest Washington.

PGPD Remembers Fallen Officer Carroll D. Garrison

Let us pause to remember our Fallen Hero, Officer Carroll D. Garrison, lost this day in 1973 while investigating a reported breaking & entering in Adam Sector.

Ofc. Garrison was born on April 16, 1941.  He was raised in Hyattsville, Maryland.  Upon completing high school, Ofc. Garrison joined the United States Navy where he served with honor and distinction for nine years.  In 1968, Ofc. Garrison joined the Prince George's County Police Department, following in the footsteps of his father, Sergeant Carroll V. Garrison.  The elder Garrison had recently retired from the Department after being wounded during a bank robbery in Henry Sector.  The junior Garrison, upon graduating from the Academy, was assigned to the Hyattsville Station.

At approximately 8:10 pm on the evening of February 20, 1973, Ofc. Garrison responded to a complaint of a breaking & entering in progress at 6519 Medwick Drive, Hyattsville, Maryland.  A neighbor had called police after seeing flashlight movement inside of the residence.  Ofc. Garrison was the first officer on scene and discovered a broken window to the rear of the residence.  As Ofc. Garrison approached the window to investigate further, the homeowner, believing the officer to be an intruder, discharged a shotgun from within the residence striking the officer in the chest.  Ofc. Garrison was rushed to Washington Adventist Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Ofc. Garrison served the Prince George's County Police Department for five years and was the eighth member of this Agency to make the Ultimate Sacrifice.  He was the 11th law enforcement officer to give his life while serving this Profession within Prince George's County, Maryland.

 At the time of his death, Officer Carroll D. Garrison was 31 years old and survived by his wife.

PGPD Remembers Sergeant Joseph Brown


Let us pause to remember our fallen hero Sergeant Joseph K. Brown Sr., lost this day in 1966.

Sergeant Brown was born on December 2, 1929, in Takoma Park. He was raised on his family's farm in what is now the 6800 block of New Hampshire Avenue. Sergeant Brown attended Mount Rainier High School and the University of Maryland before joining the United States Marine Corps. He served with honor and distinction, achieving the rank of sergeant while assigned to Camp Pendleton. Sergeant Brown briefly joined the Takoma Park Police Department at the beginning of 1958. On March 16, 1958, Sergeant Brown joined the Prince George's County Police Department, following in the footsteps of his father, Ralph W. Brown. His father was among the original members of the PGPD when it was formed in 1931. Ralph Brown rose through ranks and in 1943 was promoted to Chief of Police. Sergeant Brown was assigned to the Hyattsville station and promoted to the rank of sergeant in 1965.

On February 19, 1966, Sergeant Brown and two fellow officers responded to University Boulevard to serve an arrest warrant for indecent exposure. As the officers tried to initiate contact with the suspect, the man’s teenage son suddenly exited the apartment and got into a struggle with the officers.
As the officers tried to take the teen into custody, the original suspect exited the apartment and opened fire, hitting Sergeant Brown in the chest and wounding a second officer. Sergeant Brown died of his injuries at a hospital.

Sergeant Brown served the Prince George's County Police Department for eight years and was the fourth member of this agency to make the ultimate sacrifice. He was the fifth law enforcement officer to give his life while serving this profession within Prince George's County.


At the time of his death, Sergeant Joseph Brown was 36 years old and survived by his wife and son.

Bank Robbery Suspect

 

Thanks to these clear surveillance photos, we know what he looks like. Now, we want his name and where we can find him. This suspect robbed a bank in the 1900 block of Queens Chapel Road on February 11, 2015, at about 12:00 pm. Our investigation reveals he walked in and demanded cash from a teller. Once he got money, he ran from the bank. If you know this suspect or have information on where we can find him, please call 301-772-4905. Laundromat Robbery


He wasn’t there for a load of clean clothes. Instead, this masked suspect chose to rob a laundromat in the 5900 block of Central Avenue back on February 6, 2015, around 11:30 pm. He walked into the business and demanded cash. An employee handed over money and the suspect ran away. If you have any information on this robbery, please call 301-772-4905.

This suspect also made our Wanted Wednesday list. He’s wanted for robbing a victim on Everhart Place in Temple Hills on January 29, 2015, at about 5:00 am. PGPD Hosting Media Breakfast Meeting

Updated February 16, 2015: Tomorrow's media breakfast will be postponed due to inclement weather. An alternative date is forthcoming. 

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Media Relations Division will host a breakfast meeting next Tuesday for members of the media. The breakfast will take place at the PGPD’s Aviation Hangar in College Park. Reporters and assignment editors are invited to meet and interact with Media Relations Division members and the PGPD executive command staff. In addition, the Aviation Unit will give a show-and-tell on Air 1’s newest technology which will enhance our ability to search for suspects and missing people. Members of the media can also meet the newest police K9s that arrived last week.

PGPD Remembers Fallen Officer William Gullett


Let us pause to remember our fallen hero Officer William W. Gullett, Jr., lost this day in 1969 while investigating a loud music complaint.

Officer Gullett was born on December 9, 1946, in St. Louis, Missouri.  He was raised in College Park and attended Northwestern High School.  After serving briefly in the cadet program, Officer Gullett joined the Prince George's County Police Department on November 6, 1967. He was a member of Session 3-67, a class that would ultimately lose three of its members in the line of duty.  After graduation, Officer Gullett was assigned to the Seat Pleasant station.


On February 16, 1969, at about 1:00 am, Officer Gullett responded to a loud music complaint at a home in Kentland.  When he arrived, Officer Gullett and a second officer made contact with the resident.  During the discussion, the resident suddenly drew a handgun from his waistband and opened fire, fatally wounding Officer Gullett.


Officer Gullett served the Prince George's County Police Department for one year and was the seventh member of this agency to make the ultimate sacrifice.  He was the 10th law enforcement officer to give his life while serving this profession within Prince George's County.


At the time of his death, Officer William Gullett was 22 years old and survived by his parents.

PGPD Arrests Suspect in Domestic-Related Homicide

Update February 15, 2015: The victim is 28-year-old Richardo Donnell Johnson of the 3000 block of Branch Avenue in Hillcrest Heights .


The Prince George's County Police Department's Homicide Unit today arrested a suspect in connection with a domestic-related homicide this morning in Hillcrest Heights. The suspect is 28-year-old Portia Nikkia Williams of the 6000 block of Logan Way in Bladensburg.

On February 15, 2015, at about 5:00 am, patrol officers were called to the 3000 block of Branch Avenue for the report of a stabbing. When they arrived, the officers found the victim suffering from an apparent stab wound inside of his apartment. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The preliminary investigation reveals Williams went to the victim's home this morning. The victim and suspect got into an argument which escalated into the stabbing. The victim and suspect had been in a romantic relationship. Williams was still in the home when officers arrived. She is charged with second degree murder and first degree assault.
