PGPD Investigates USPS Crash in Bowie

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a crash in Bowie that left a driver in critical condition. The driver is an employee with the United States Postal Service.

On April 9, 2015, at about 3:00 pm, patrol officers were called to Annapolis Road and Highbridge Road for the report of a single-vehicle crash. A USPS truck had crashed on Annapolis Road.  The driver was critically injured.

The preliminary investigation reveals the truck was heading westbound on Annapolis Road approaching the intersection with Highbridge Road. Preliminarily, it appears the driver may have lost control while trying to avoid an eastbound vehicle that was preparing to turn left. The mail truck driver swerved to avoid the vehicle. The mail truck flipped over and crossed the median into eastbound Annapolis Road. No other cars were involved.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit at (301) 731-4422.
