Community Tips Lead to Arrest in Forestville Homicide

The Homicide Unit arrested the suspect in connection with a triple homicide in Forestville. The suspect is 24-year-old Lawrence Sylvester Rogers Jr. of the 5500 block of Rollins Lane in Capitol Heights. He’s charged with fatally shooting 50-year-old Carlina Renee Gray of Orleans Avenue in Forestville, 55-year-old Jan Marie Parks of Dunbar Avenue in Landover and 60-year-old Allen Rowlett of Marion Street in Forestville. A fourth and fifth victim were also shot. One remains in critical condition and the other suffered non-life threatening injuries.

On June 24th, at about 9:35 pm, patrol officers were called to a home in the 3100 block of Orleans Avenue for a shooting. When they arrived, they found five adults shot. Three of those victims were pronounced dead on the scene. The three deceased victims were found inside of a home.

Detectives established Rogers as the suspect through investigative techniques and numerous tips from our community and obtained an arrest warrant for him. Rogers was arrested last night in Washington, D.C. Rogers is charged with three counts of first and second degree murder. He remains in custody, awaiting extradition to Prince George’s County.
