Prince George’s County Police Homicide Unit detectives charged a suspect in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in April. The suspect is 23-year-old Javon Moore of Washington, D.C. He is charged with fatally shooting 19-year-old Tyron Avent of Oxon Hill.
On April 11, 2024, at approximately 5:30 pm, officers responded to the area of Neptune Avenue and Audrey Lane for the report of a shooting. Officers located Avent outside suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
The preliminary investigation revealed Moore shot the victim before fleeing the shooting scene. The suspect and victim were known to each other.
Moore is charged with first and second-degree murder and other related charges. He is in the custody of the Department of Corrections.
