The Homicide Unit is asking for the community’s assistance in identifying the suspect wanted for a recent fatal shooting. The suspect arrived to and then fled the scene on a bicycle. The suspect is wanted for the murder of 33-year-old William Denard Askew of Greenbelt. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.
On July 25, 2025, at approximately 10:20 pm, officers responded to a shooting in the 13200 block of Laurel Bowie Road in the unincorporated section of Laurel. Officers located Askew in the roadway near the shooting scene suffering from gunshot wound(s). He died on the scene.
Detectives are working to determine a motive for the murder.
