Maryland Governor’s Office Awards Crime Lab Grant to the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Crime Lab

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Crime Lab has received a grant for $55,000 from the Governor’s Office of Crime Control and Prevention (GOCCP). The grant will be used for enhancements to the facility. The federal funds come to the state through the Paul Coverdell Forensic Science Improvement Grants (CFSI) Program.

The grants are meant to help forensic laboratories enhance performance in the analysis of forensic science evidence involving firearms examination, latent prints, toxicology, controlled substances, forensic pathology, questioned documents and trace evidence. The funds can also help crime labs to achieve national accreditation and can be used to train, assist, and employ forensic laboratory personnel as needed.
