In support of the county-wide Transforming Neighborhoods Initiative (TNI), the Prince George’s County Police Department is Running the Beat. Police officers and dignitaries are participating in the final run of the year in Palmer Park.
Running the Beat began April 30th in
Langley Park as part of TNI, a plan to improve the quality of life in focus
area communities. Throughout the summer,
the County Executive has joined police commanders, academy recruits, and other
government officials in morning runs in our six focus areas: Langley Park, East
Riverdale/Bladensburg, Kentland/Palmer Park, Suitland/Coral Hills, Hillcrest
Heights/Marlow Heights, and Glassmanor/Oxon Hill. Together, approximately 40 miles were covered
in an effort to engage the community and identify issues in need of the
government’s attention.
A news conference will follow the run, and will
include examples of neighborhood improvements.
