PGPD Investigates Homicide in Upper Marlboro

The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating a homicide in Upper Marlboro.  The victim is identified as 19-year-old Rashad Andre Pinkney of Larchmont Avenue in Capitol Heights.

On December 21, 2013, at about 12:05 am, patrol officers were called to the 11800 block of North Marlton Avenue in Upper Marlboro for the sound of gunshots.  When they arrived on scene, the patrol officers discovered that a home on North Marlton had been the site of a large house party.  Hundreds of partygoers were out in the street.

The preliminary investigation reveals that roughly one hour later, as the patrol officers were controlling the scene of the party, a homeowner in the 11700 block of North Marlton called 911 to report a suspicious person sitting on the front stoop.  Patrol officers found Pinkney on the front steps of the home.  He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives are working to identify a suspect(s) and motive in the case.

A patrol officer who was controlling the scene of the house party was assaulted by a 17-year-old suspect.  As the officer tried to arrest her, the suspect pushed into the officer, breaking his leg and twisting his ankle.  The suspect is facing assault charges.
