Detectives Arrest Suspect for Fatal Shooting in Lanham

Detectives with our Homicide Unit identified and arrested a suspect in connection with a homicide in Lanham earlier this month. He’s 26-year-old Madani Tejan of the 8800 block of Lottsford Road in Largo. He’s charged with fatally shooting 28-year-old Anthony Freeland of Minnesota Avenue in Southeast Washington.

On October 3^rd, at approximately 9:35 pm, patrol officers were called to the 6500 block of Manton Way in Lanham for a shooting. Officers discovered Freeland outside on a sidewalk suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

During the course of their investigation, detectives identified Tejan as the suspect. The preliminary investigation reveals Tejan shot the victim during a robbery. The suspect and victim were acquaintances. Tejan is charged with first degree murder. He’s in custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
