Bicyclist Struck by Vehicle Dies of Injuries

The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision involving a car and a bicycle in Largo. The collision took place on September 9^th.  The bicyclist died in late November. He is identified as 60-year-old Eddie Wellington of Suitland.

On September 9th, at approximately 10:20 pm, officers were called to the intersection of Harry S Truman Drive and Birdie Lane for a crash involving a vehicle and a bicyclist. The preliminary investigation reveals Wellington was on a bike attempting to cross the intersection when he was struck by a car traveling northbound on Harry S Truman Drive. Investigators are working to determine what exactly led to the collision.  Wellington suffered critical injuries. He died on November 21^st. The involved driver was not hurt and remained on the scene.
