Assault Victim Dies of Injuries; Death Ruled a Homicide

The Homicide Unit is now leading the investigation into an assault in District Heights that occurred in August. The victim, 35-year-old Steven Anthony Thompson of District Heights, died of his injuries several weeks later. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner this week ruled his death a homicide. Preliminarily, detectives do not consider this a random crime.

On August 9^th, at approximately 1:00 am, officers responded to a business in the 5800 block of Silver Hill Road for an assault. Officers located the victim unresponsive. He was rushed to a hospital. Thompson died on September 4^th. An autopsy determined Thompson’s cause of death was blunt force trauma with complications.

The preliminary investigation revealed a suspect assaulted the victim inside of the store before fleeing the area.

Víctima de Agresión Muere de sus Heridas; Clasifican su Muerte como Homicidio

Nuestra Unidad de Homicidios asumió la investigación de una agresión ocurrida en agosto en el área de District Heights. La víctima, quien había sido identificada como Steven Anthony Thompson, de 25 años de edad y vecino del área de District Heights, murió de sus heridas varias semanas más tarde.
