The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit has charged a suspect in Tuesday evening’s homicide in Landover. The suspect is 32-year-old Christopher Daniel Butler of Capitol Heights. He is charged in connection with the fatal shooting of 33-year-old Anthony Yelverton of Washington, DC.
On October 26, 2021, at approximately 6:45 pm,
patrol officers responded to the report of a shooting in the 1000 block of
Atlee Drive. Once on scene, officers located the victim inside of a home
suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital where he was
pronounced dead a short time later.
A security officer working in the area detained Butler after the shooting until PGPD officers arrived.
The preliminary investigation revealed the
suspect shot the victim after an argument. The victim and suspect are known to
each other.
Butler is charged with second degree murder and
additional charges. He is currently in the custody of the Department of
Corrections.

Acusan a Sospechoso por Mortal Tiroteo en Atlee
Drive
La Unidad de Homicidios del Departamento de la Policía del Condado de Prince George’s acusó a un sospechoso en conexión al asesinato del martes en la tarde en Landover. El sospechoso fue identificado como Christopher Daniel Butler, de 32 años y vecino de Capitol Heights. A este se le imputa el asesinato a tiros de Anthony Yelverton, de 33 años y vecino de Washington DC.
El 26 de octubre de 2021, a eso de las 6:45 pm, oficiales de patrulla acudieron a la cuadra 1000 de Atlee Drive tras recibir información sobre un tiroteo. Una vez llegaron a la escena, los oficiales hallaron a la víctima con una herida de bala, dentro de una residencia. A este le trasladaron a un hospital del área en donde le declararon muerto poco tiempo después.
Un oficial de seguridad que trabajaba por el área detuvo a Butler luego del tiroteo y le mantuvo detenido hasta que llegaron los oficiales de PGPD.
La investigación preliminar reveló que el sospechoso le disparó a la víctima luego de un altercado verbal. El sospechoso y la víctima se conocían entre sí.
Butler enfrenta cargos por asesinato en primer y segundo grado, entre otros. Este se encuentra bajo la custodia del Departamento de Corrección.
