PGPD Investigating Fatal Collision in Clinton

The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision in Clinton. The victim is 49-year-old Abdul Jama of Stuart Lane in Clinton.

On October 28th, at about 8:30 pm, patrol officers were called to the 9200 block of Stuart Lane for the report of a collision. The preliminary investigation reveals a car traveling southbound on Stuart Lane struck Jama, who was also in the southbound lanes of traffic in a wheelchair. He was pronounced dead a short time later at the hospital. The driver remained on the scene.

Detectives Investigate Double Homicide in Capitol Heights

Homicide Unit detectives are working to arrest those responsible for a double homicide in Capitol Heights early this morning. The victims are 14-year-old Todd James Webb Jr, of Walker Mill Road in Capitol Heights and 18-year-old Brian Davis of Quebec Place in Northwest Washington. Preliminarily, detectives do not believe this was a random incident.

This morning, at about 2:45 am, patrol officers were called to the 6800 block of Walker Mill Road for a shooting. They discovered a total of six shooting victims in the parking lot. Webb and Davis were pronounced dead on the scene. Of the four surviving victims, two remain in the hospital. One of them, an adult male, has life-threatening injuries. The second hospitalized victim is expected to survive. The other two victims have been released from the hospital.  

Detectives are working to arrest the suspect(s) in this case. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment.

Uber Driver Arrested for Kidnapping & Assault

Detectives arrested a suspect in connection with a kidnapping and assault in College Park. The suspect is 29-year-old Westagne Pierre of the 9100 block of Spring Hill Lane in Greenbelt. The suspect was working as an Uber driver. The victim was his customer.
  
The preliminary investigation reveals Pierre picked up the victim in Washington, DC, the night of October 18th. Pierre drove the victim to her home in Virginia, but instead of dropping her off, he drove her to a hotel in College Park. Once there, the suspect removed the victim from the car and carried her into a hotel room. The investigation reveals he also used the victim’s credit card a short time later.  

Detectives arrested the suspect on Thursday. He’s been charged with kidnapping, assault and for fraudulently using the victim’s credit card. Additional charges are pending after consultation with the State's Attorney's Office. Pierre is in the custody of the Department of Corrections.

Shooting Investigation

Our detectives are working to find and arrest this suspect for an attempted murder in Temple Hills. He is 20-year-old Nicco Rashaad Young of the 4100 block of 24th Place in Temple Hills. On Tuesday, October 25th, our preliminary investigation reveals Young was involved in a dispute that ended with Young shooting the victim. Preliminarily, the victim’s injuries do not appear life-threatening. This happened at Iverson Mall in the 3700 block of Branch Avenue. Armed Robbery Investigation

We’re also searching for these two suspects. They’re wanted in connection with two commercial armed robberies. The armed robberies both took place on October 21st.  The first happened in the 7400 block of Livingston Road in Oxon Hill at about 4:10 pm. The second occurred in the 6500 block of Walker Mill Road in Capitol Heights at about 5:15 pm. They were last seen driving the pictured Toyota Camry with temporary tags. Please help us find them. Gas Station Armed Robbery


Our Robbery Unit detectives also need your help identifying this suspect who robbed a gas station in the 8800 block of Woodyard Road in Clinton. He targeted the business on October 23rd at about 5:30 pm. Our investigation revealed the suspect entered the store, pointed a handgun at the victim and demanded cash and cigarettes. Attempted Game Store Armed Robbery


This suspect tried to rob a game store in the 6200 block of Livingston Road in Oxon Hill on October 22nd. The suspect walked into the store posing as a customer. Theft Investigation


The car and suspects in these photos are linked to a theft investigation. The investigation revealed a theft that occurred in the 13200 block of Laurel Bowie Road in Laurel on October 19th at about 1:10 pm. Nanny Arrested in Connection with Death of Baby

The Homicide Unit has charged a suspect in connection with the death of a baby girl. The suspect is 66-year-old Oluremi Oyindasola of the 7800 block of Fiske Avenue in Glenarden. The victim is eight-month-old Enita Salubi of Fiske Avenue in Glenarden. The suspect was the victim’s nanny.

On October 24th, at about 4:10 pm, the baby had been rushed to a hospital after she became unresponsive at home. She was pronounced dead a short time later. An autopsy on Tuesday revealed the baby’s cause of death was asphyxiation. The manner of death was ruled a homicide.

The preliminary investigation revealed the injuries to the baby occurred while in the sole care and custody of Oyindasola.

The suspect is charged with second degree murder, first degree child abuse resulting in death and related charges. She is in the custody of the Department of Corrections.

Suspended Officer Indicted by Grand Jury

UPDATE 9/5/2018: The criminal trial for suspended Prince George’s County Corporal Cordell Barbour concluded with a not guilty finding.  He currently remains on suspension pending the outcome of the internal administrative investigation which is ongoing. 


A Prince George’s County Police officer is now suspended without pay after being indicted by a grand jury today.

Corporal Cordell Barbour faces a charge of theft scheme. The allegation involves conduct between April and June of this year. Barbour’s police powers were first suspended with pay on June 30, 2016.

The Internal Affairs Division launched an investigation in early April after learning of potential misconduct involving Barbour’s secondary employment compensation.

Chief Hank Stawinski issued this statement following the grand jury indictment:

“The Prince George’s County Police Department brought this case to the State’s Attorney’s Office for consideration of criminal charges following our own internal investigation. The department will not tolerate any criminal misconduct. We have an unwavering commitment to maintain the community’s trust.”

Barbour has been employed by the department for nine years and is assigned to the Bureau of Patrol.

Suspect in Custody for January Homicide in Oxon Hill

Homicide Unit detectives have charged a man in connection with a homicide in Oxon Hill in January. The suspect is 28-year-old Tavone Martin of no fixed address. He’s charged with fatally shooting 41-year-old Derrick McCray of no fixed address.

On January 27th, about 6:20 pm, patrol officers were called to the 5600 block of St. Barnabas Road for a shooting. When they arrived, they found the victim in the street suffering from gunshot wounds. He died several hours later at a hospital.

Martin is charged with first and second degree murder. He is in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status. The suspect and victim were friends. The motive remains under investigation.

PGPD Investigating Fatal Collision Involving Bicyclist

The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision involving a bicyclist in Capitol Heights. The victim is 53-year-old Lorenzo Queen of 59th Avenue in Hyattsville.

On October 23rd, at about 1:15 am, patrol officers were called to Kenilworth Avenue and John Hanson Highway for a collision involving a car and a bicycle.

The preliminary investigation revealed the car and the bicyclist were both traveling northbound on Kenilworth Avenue. For reasons which remain under investigation, the car ran into the back of the bike. The bicyclist, Queen, was pronounced dead on the scene. The car’s driver was not hurt.

Detectives Arrest Suspect in Seat Pleasant Homicide

The Homicide Unit has arrested a suspect in connection with a homicide in Seat Pleasant on August 17th. The suspect is 30-year-old Master Matthew-Wayne Thomas of the 6600 block of Drylog Street in Capitol Heights. He’s charged with fatally shooting 37-year-old Oscar Colindres Garcia of Joplin Street in Seat Pleasant.

On August 17th, at about 11:50 pm, officers with the Seat Pleasant Police Department were called to the 7200 block of Joplin Street for a shooting. Officers found the victim in his car outside of his home suffering from a gunshot wound. He died several hours later.

The preliminary investigation reveals the motive in this case was robbery.

Thomas is charged with first and second degree murder. He is in the custody of the DC Department of Corrections pending extradition to Prince George’s County.

PGPD Arrests Upper Marlboro Day Care Employee for Child Abuse

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Child and Vulnerable Adult Abuse Unit arrested 25-year-old D’Aira Nichel Thompson in connection with the physical child abuse of a 3-year-old boy at a day care in Upper Marlboro.

Thompson, of the 10400 block of Gloucester Lane in Cheltenham, has been charged with Second Degree Child Abuse, and Second Degree Assault.  

The preliminary investigation revealed on October 18th, at approximately 8:00 am while working Thompson was attempting to restrain the Victim in a chair. During the struggle Thompson told the boy to lay his head down and slammed the boy’s head on the table. The Victim suffered a contusion to the right side of his head. Thompson is the Victims teacher.

Parents Arrested for Murder of Infant

Detectives with our Homicide Unit arrested a man and woman in connection with the murder of their baby boy. The suspects are 24-year-old Geneice Petty and 32-year-old Antoine Petty of the 8500 block of Greenbelt Road in Greenbelt. The victim is their child, 3-month-old Antoine Flemons of the  8500 block of Greenbelt Road in Greenbelt.

On October 17th, detectives were notified by family members that Geneice Petty and Antoine Flemons were missing. On October 18, detectives were able to locate Geneice Petty and Antoine Petty.  During interviews, Antoine Petty admitted that he assaulted his son resulting in the child's death.  Both then admitted that they buried the baby in an effort to conceal the crime.  The suspects lead detectives to a shallow grave in the Riverdale area where the baby was discovered dead. 

Antoine Petty is charged with First and Second Degree Murder, and various related charges.  Geneice Petty is charged with Accessory After the Fact.  They are in the custody of the Department of Corrections.

Gas Station Armed Robbery 
 
We are starting this week with our investigation into a robbery at a gas station. We’re looking for the suspect in the above pictures. He robbed the victim in the 6600 block of Riverdale Road in Riverdale on October 13th around 8:30 pm. The victim was not hurt. Once he grabbed the cash, the suspect ran away on foot. Detectives are also investigating an armed robbery at a convenience store in the 10500 block of Baltimore Avenue in Beltsville. The suspect pushed the Victim down to the ground and demanded cash from an employee on October 10th at about 3:00 am. Once he grabbed cash, suspects ran from the store. Commercial Breaking and Entering

Detectives are looking for a suspect who is wanted in connection with the breaking and entering of a business in Upper Marlboro. The incident took place on October 6th in the 4700 block of Crain Highway in Upper Marlboro. The suspect is believed to be driving a white 2010 Nissan Altima as seen pictured. Theft from Vehicle
These suspects are wanted for breaking into a car in the 9200 block of Good Luck Road in Lanham. The theft took place on October 7th in the early morning hours. If you know these suspects or have information, please call our detectives at 301-390-2160.

Detectives Investigate Fatal Shooting in Upper Marlboro

Detectives with our Homicide Unit are conducting an investigation into the fatal shooting of a woman in Upper Marlboro. She is 18-year-old Allyssa Banks of Prince Place in Upper Marlboro.

On October 19th, at about 1:45 am, officers were called to the 10200 block of Prince Place for a shooting. When they arrived, they found Banks suffering from gunshot wounds. She died at the hospital. A man was also shot during this incident and taken to the hospital. Preliminarily, his injuries do not appear to be life threatening.

Detectives are investigating the circumstances leading up to the fatal shooting. Banks and the male victim knew each other.

Chief Stawinski to Lay Wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

On Thursday morning, Chief Hank Stawinski will lay a wreath at the tomb of the “Tomb of the Unknown Soldier” at the Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia. This event symbolizes the relationship between the military and first responders throughout the country and all of those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

PGPD Investigates Fatal Collision in Accokeek

The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision in Accokeek. The victim is 21-year-old Jaylen Williams of Thornberry Drive West in Upper Marlboro.

On October 15, 2016 around 1:15 am, patrol officers were called to the intersection of Indian Head Highway and Berry Road for a crash involving three cars. Upon arrival, officers discovered Williams suffering from critical injuries.  He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The preliminary investigation reveals Williams was traveling northbound on Indian Head Highway approaching the intersection of Berry Road. Two cars were turning left from southbound Indian Head Highway onto Berry Road with the right of way. Williams’s car entered the intersection against a red signal and stuck the two vehicles in the intersection. The drivers of those cars were taken to the hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injury.

PGPD Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Collision in New Carrollton

The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision in New Carrollton. The victim is 47-year-old Kevin Fowler of Emerson Place in Hyattsville. 

On October 12th, at about 10:30 pm, patrol officers were called to the intersection of Annapolis Road and West Lanham Drive for a collision involving a SUV and a pedestrian.

The preliminary investigation reveals the SUV was traveling eastbound on Annapolis Road when it struck Fowler as he was attempting to cross the roadway. Preliminarily, it appears Fowler was not in a crosswalk. He was pronounced dead a short time later at the hospital. The driver remained on the scene.

Package Theft Caught on Camera



We’re starting Wanted Wednesday this week with a video of a suspect wanted for snatching a package right off the front porch of a home. Burglary Investigation

Our detectives are also looking to identifying this suspect. Our investigation reveals this suspect and two accomplices are linked to as many as 13 burglaries at businesses in the county this year. This photo is from a burglary in the 4800 block of Marlboro Pike in Capitol Heights earlier this year. In each case, the suspects stole money. Bank Robbery

Our Robbery Unit is investigating a bank robbery in the 6300 block of Greenbelt Road in Berwyn Heights on October 8th just before 12:00 pm. The suspect carried and pointed an umbrella and a gun during the robbery. Once he got the cash, he ran away. Bank Robbery

This suspect robbed a bank in Fort Washington last Friday. He walked into a branch in the 11800 block of Livingston Road around 3:15 pm and pointed a gun at the teller and demanded money. Our detectives are working to find and arrest this suspect for an attempted murder in Temple Hills. He is 29-year-old Anthony Cole Roye of the 14000 block of Spring Branch Drive in Upper Marlboro. On Sunday, October 9th, our preliminary investigation reveals Roye was involved in an argument which ended with Roye physically assaulting and then shooting the victim. Detectives Charge High School Teacher With Sexual Solicitation of a Student

Detectives arrested a teacher in connection with the sexual solicitation of a 16-year-old student at a high school in Lanham. The suspect is 66-year-old Doney Olivieri of the 1300 block of 28th Street in Southeast DC.
Olivieri is a teacher at DuVal High School. A relative of the victim called police on October 8th saying Olivieri sent the student inappropriate text messages from June to September of this year. He’s also accused of touching the student on the chest in a classroom in September.
Detectives arrested Olivieri on Monday. He has admitted to sending the inappropriate text messages to the victim. He is charged with sexual solicitation of a minor, fourth degree sexual offense and second degree assault.

Detectives Arrest Suspect in Forestville Homicide

The Homicide Unit has arrested a suspect in connection with a homicide in Forestville on Sunday. The suspect is 27-year-old Keenan Savoy Fitzgerald of the 4600 block of Dallas Place in Temple Hills. He’s charged with fatally stabbing 50-year-old Emmanuel Sutton of Good Hope Court in Southeast DC.

On October 9, 2016, at about 2:45 am, patrol officers were called to the 7800 block of Parston Drive for a stabbing. They found Sutton outside suffering from trauma to the upper body. Sutton was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The preliminary investigation reveals the suspect was involved in a physical altercation with another man. Sutton attempted to break up the dispute when he was stabbed by the suspect.

Fitzgerald is charged with first and second degree murder. He is in the custody of the Department of Corrections.

Chief Stawinski to Present Draft MGM Transportation Plan to Community

On Wednesday evening, Chief Hank Stawinski will present the draft MGM National Harbor Transportation plan to the community. He will discuss our efforts to manage traffic when the new $1.4 billion MGM National Harbor opens on December 8, 2016

Chief Stawinski will be joined by officials from the Prince George’s County Government, MGM National Harbor and the Peterson Companies.

Detectives Investigate Robbery of WSSC Crew

Detectives are investigating the robbery of a Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission crew in Temple Hills. The four victims were not hurt during the armed robbery early this morning.

The preliminary investigation reveals the suspect approached the crew this morning around 2:45 am. The team was repairing a broken water main in the 4100 block of 24th Avenue. The suspect, who had a gun, stole personal items from the victims and then ran away toward Kenton Place.  


Detectives are actively working to identify the suspect.

PGPD Investigates Fatal Hit-and-Run in Oxon Hill

Our Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating this morning's fatal hit-and-run in Oxon Hill. The driver has now been identified. Charges against him are pending. The victim is 23-year-old Lisbon Wiggins of Chesapeake Avenue in Southeast DC.   

The preliminary investigation reveals the driver struck Wiggins at the intersection of St. Barnabas Road and Wheeler Road at about 3:05 am. Wiggins and a friend had just been involved in an unrelated, minor collision with another car. Wiggins and her friend were outside of their car exchanging information with the second driver. At that moment, the investigation reveals the striking driver struck Wiggins with his pickup truck. He fled when a patrol officer arrived on the scene. Wiggins was pronounced dead on the scene. 
Shortly before noon, the striking driver turned himself in at our District V station in Clinton. Charges against him are pending. Investigators will be consulting with the State's Attorney's Office.

Detectives Arrest Suspect in 2015 Springdale Homicide

Our Homicide Unit arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal shooting in Springdale in 2015. The suspect is 23-year-old Afolbi Ijaoba of the 3800 block of Asquith Court in Springdale.

On November 10, 2015, at about 1:00 pm, patrol officers were called to the 3700 block of Ladova Way for the report of a crash involving a single car. When they arrived, they found the crashed car unoccupied. The driver, 59-year-old Bernard Parker of Springdale, had already been taken to the hospital. Investigators quickly determined Parker had been shot inside of his car prior to the crash.

Detectives believe the suspect shot the victim during a robbery attempt.

Ijaoba is in the custody of the Department of Corrections. He is charged with first degree murder, first and second degree assault along with related firearms charges. He is being held on a no-bond status.

PGPD Searches for Missing Woman

Update October 17, 2016: Ms. Taylor has been safely located.

The Prince George’s County Police Department is seeking the public’s help in searching for a missing woman. She is identified as 21-year-old Latasha Taylor.

Taylor was last seen in the 8700 block of 34th Avenue in College Park on October 3, 2016.

Taylor is described as an African American female, 5’4”, and 100 pounds. She was last seen wearing a black jacket, white blouse, blue jeans and tan shoes. She may be in need of medication.

Suspect Charged With Assault of Student on School Bus

Prince George’s County Police detectives charged a suspect for assaulting an adult student on a school bus. The suspect is a private employee hired by another student’s family to care for that student. The suspect is 45-year-old Owoade Elusanni of the 9000 block of 1st Street in Lanham.

Our investigation reveals Elusanni repeatedly struck a 19-year-old student on a school bus that was in the parking lot of C. Elizabeth Rieg Regional School in Mitchellville on September 2nd. The assault was recorded on a camera on the bus. The student did not suffer serious injuries.

Elusanni is charged with second degree assault and reckless endangerment. A criminal summons has been issued for her.

Two Suspects in Custody in Fatal Shooting of Convenience Store Employee


Our Homicide Unit arrested two suspects in connection with the August homicide of a convenience store employee in Clinton. The suspects are 20-year-old Deandre Davis of the 7700 block of Mike Shapiro Drive in Clinton and 20-year-old Duran Carrington of the 800 block of Southern Avenue in Washington DC.

On August 20th, at about 4:50 am, patrol officers were called to the 9700 block of Brandywine Road for a shooting. The officers found the victim, 31-year-old Taiwo Oduwole, outside of the 7-11 suffering from a gunshot wound. He died a short time later at a hospital. Oduwole was an employee of the convenience store.

The investigation reveals the victim was shot during a robbery attempt. Carrington has admitted to shooting the victim, while our investigation reveals Davis acted as the getaway driver.

Both suspects are in the custody of the Department of Corrections. They are charged with first degree murder, armed robbery and related charges. They are also charged with the armed robbery of a hotel in Clinton shortly after the fatal shooting of Oduwole.
