PGPD Investigates Fatal Motorcycle Collision in Suitland

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a motorcycle collision in Suitland that occurred on September 1st. The motorcycle rider died of his injuries on September 19th. He is identified as 39-year-old Wesley Jones III of Temple Hills.

The preliminary investigation revealed that on September 1^st, at approximately 10:30 pm, Jones was traveling westbound on Silver Hill Road in the right-turn-only lane approaching the intersection in the 4500 block of Silver Hill Road. As the light turned green, the driver of a Toyota sedan who was already in the intersection, pulled to the right in order to make way for an approaching emergency vehicle which had its lights and sirens activated. While doing so, Jones’ motorcycle collided with the right side of the Toyota. He suffered critical injuries and was rushed to a local hospital where he died from his injuries on September 19th. Both the driver and the passenger in the Toyota remained on the scene and were not injured.

PGPD Investiga Mortal Choque de Motocicleta en Suitland

La Unidad de Reconstrucción y Análisis de Choque del Condado de Prince George investiga un choque de motocicleta ocurrido el 1ro de septiembre en el área de Suitland. El motociclista murió de sus heridas el 19 de septiembre. Éste fue identificado como Wesley Jones III de Temple Hills.

La investigación preliminar determinó que el 1ro de septiembre, a eso de las 10:30 pm, Jones viajaba en dirección oeste en la Silver Hill Road, en el carril exclusivo para virajes a la derecha mientras se acercaba a la intersección en la cuadra 4500 de Silver Hill Road. Una vez la luz se tornó verde, el conductor de un sedan marca Toyota, quien ya se encontraba en la intersección, se movió hacia la derecha para dar paso a un vehículo de emergencia que llevaba sus luces y sirena activadas. Al hacer esto, la motocicleta de Jones chocó con el lado derecho del Toyota. Éste sufrió heridas críticas y de inmediato fue trasladado a un hospital en donde luego falleció de sus heridas el 19 de septiembre. Tanto el conductor y el pasajero que transitaban en el Toyota permanecieron en la escena y no resultaron lesionados.
