The
Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit continues to work to identify the
victim of a fatal single-vehicle crash that happened over the weekend.
The
preliminary investigation revealed that on September 21st, at
approximately 3:00 am, an Infinity sedan was traveling on Pennsylvania Avenue
just after Quarter Avenue. For reasons that are under investigation, the driver
lost control and struck several trees. The car then became engulfed in flames.
When patrol officers arrived on scene, the driver was still trapped inside and
died at the scene. The driver suffered severe burns. There were no other
occupants in the vehicle.
Investigators
are looking into whether excessive speed played a role in this crash.

PGPD Investiga Mortal Choque en Suitland
La Unidad de Reconstrucción y Análisis
de Choque continúa trabajando para identificar a la víctima de un mortal choque
de un solo vehículo ocurrido durante el fin de semana.
La investigación preliminar determinó
que el 21 de septiembre, a eso de las 3:00 am, un sedán marca Infiniti viajaba
en la Pennsylvania Avenue justo después de la Quarter Avenue. Por razones que
aún permanecen bajo investigación, el conductor perdió el control del vehículo
e impactó varios árboles. El vehículo luego se encendió en fuego. Al llegar a
escena, los oficiales hallaron al conductor atrapado dentro del vehículo
mientras ardía y éste murió en la escena. Éste sufrió quemaduras severas. No
había otros pasajeros dentro del vehículo.
Los detectives investigan si el
