The
Prince Georges County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction
Unit is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred over the
weekend in Oxon Hill. The victim is identified as 34-year-old Jose Miguel of
Rockville.
On
September 21st, at approximately 8:30 am, patrol officers responded
to the southbound ramp of I-295 and southbound Indian Head Highway for a
vehicle collision involving two pedestrians. When officers arrived on the
scene, they discovered Miguel and another man suffering from critical injuries
after being hit by a car.
The
preliminary investigation revealed that both men were outside at the end of the
I-295 exit ramp attempting to repair their broken-down truck on the shoulder.
As two cars were approaching the end of the exit ramp, the first one swerved to
avoid the men and their truck but the second car was unable to avoid the
collision and crashed into both men and their truck.
The
driver of the striking car remained on the scene and had minor injuries.
Both
Miguel and the second victim suffered critical injuries and were transported to
an area hospital where Miguel later died of his injuries.

PGPD Investiga Mortal Choque con Peatón en Oxon Hill
La Unidad de Reconstrucción y Análisis
de Choque de la Policía del Condado de Prince George investiga un mortal choque
peatonal ocurrido durante el fin de semana en el área de Oxon Hill. La víctima
fue identificada como Jose Miguel, de 34 años de edad y vecino de Rockville.
El 21 de septiembre, a eso de las
8:30 am, oficiales de patrulla acudieron a la rampa en dirección sur de la
I-295 y hacia el sur de la Indian Head Highway para atender un choque vehicular
que involucraba a dos peatones. Al llegar a la escena, los oficiales hallaron a
Miguel y a otro hombre con heridas críticas luego de haber sido impactados por
un vehículo.
La investigación preliminar demostró
que ambos hombres se encontraban fuera de su vehículo al final de la rampa de
salida de la I-295 mientras intentaban reparar su camioneta descompuesta a
orillas de la carretera. Según dos vehículos se acercaban al final de la rampa,
el primero hizo un viraje súbito para esquivar a los hombres y la camioneta,
pero el segundo no pudo evitar el choque y se estrelló contra los hombres y su
camioneta.
El conductor del vehículo que impactó
a los peatones permaneció en la escena y sufrió lesiones menores.
Tanto Miguel como el segundo
individuo sufrieron heridas críticas y fueron trasladados a un hospital del
área en donde más adelante Miguel moriría de sus heridas.
