PGPD Investigating Homicide in City of Glenarden

Prince George’s County Police Department Homicide Unit detectives are investigating a homicide that occurred on Sunday morning in the city of Glenarden. The victim is 37-year-old Matthew Hinkle of Glenarden. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case. 

On January 25, 2026, at approximately 5:10 am, Glenarden Police Department officers responded to the 7900 block of Glenarden Parkway for reports of an unresponsive person. Once on scene, they located the victim outside suffering from trauma. He was pronounced dead on the scene. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the official cause of death.
 
Detectives are working to determine a motive and identify a suspect(s). 
 
The Prince George’s County Police Department investigates all homicides that occur in the city of Glenarden.

Suspect in Custody in Connection With Fatal Shooting in Suitland

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit identified and charged a suspect in connection with a recent murder in Suitland. The suspect is 32-year-old Joshua Dawson of Suitland. He’s charged with the murder of 32-year-old Brandon Foulks of Suitland.

On January 18, 2026, at approximately 11:20 am, officers responded to the 3900 block of Suitland Road for a shooting. Once on scene, they located the victim outside suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Through various investigative techniques, detectives identified Dawson as the suspect. The preliminary investigation revealed the suspect shot the victim during an argument. Dawson and Foulks are known to each other.

With the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service and the Myrtle Beach Police Department (SC), he was taken into custody in South Carolina where he remains pending extradition. The suspect is charged with first and second degree murder and related charges.

PGPD Arrests Suspect in Landover Fatal Shooting

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit charged a man in connection with a fatal shooting earlier this month in Landover. The suspect is 43-year-old John Michael Brand of White Plains, MD. He is charged with the murder of 60-year-old Constance Miller of no fixed address.

On January 8, 2026, at approximately 11:35 pm, officers responded to a shooting in the 3100 block of 75th Avenue. Officers located Miller outside suffering from a gunshot wound. She was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries where she died on January 16, 2026.

The preliminary investigation revealed the suspect shot the victim during an argument. Brand and Miller were known to each other.

Brand is charged with first-degree murder. The PGPD thanks the Charles County Sheriff’s Office for its assistance in this investigation.

PGPD Investigating Non-Fatal Shooting Involving Tow Truck Company Employee

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Gun Crimes Unit is investigating a non-fatal shooting Wednesday night involving a tow truck company employee.

 

On January 21, 2026, at approximately 9:40 pm, officers responded to a shooting in the 4800 block of Addison Road in the unincorporated section of Capitol Heights. Officers located a man in a parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound. Preliminarily, his injuries are not considered life-threatening.

 

The preliminary investigation suggests the man who had been shot approached two tow truck company employees in the parking lot. During an argument over a possible tow, the man sprayed both employees with OC spray. One of the employees then shot the man.

 

Gun Crimes Unit detectives are in consultation with the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office regarding this active investigation. At this time, no one has been charged in connection with the incident.

PGPD Investigating Fatal Hit-And-Run; Suspected Driver Identified

Update January 21, 2026: The deceased pedestrian has been identified as 76-year-old Antonio Gonzalez of Temple Hills.


The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit (CARU) is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred on Monday evening in Temple Hills. The deceased pedestrian’s name will be released once his family is notified.  

On January 19, 2026, at about 7:00 pm, officers responded to the 3000 block of Branch Avenue for a pedestrian collision. At the scene, officers found the victim in a parking lot with injuries. He was taken to the hospital where he later died. The driver did not stay on the scene.

Shortly after the incident, patrol officers canvassing the area located the suspected driver and recovered what is believed to be the striking vehicle. CARU is actively working to determine the cause of the collision and is in consultation with the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney's Office. No charges have been filed at this time.

Homicide Unit detectives are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Sunday. The victim is 32-year-old Brandon Foulks of Suitland. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.

On January 18, 2026, at approximately 11:20 am, officers responded to the 3900 block of Suitland Road for a shooting. Once on scene, they located the victim outside suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Preliminarily, this is believed to be a targeted shooting. Detectives are working to determine a motive and identify a suspect(s).

Pedestrian Dies of Injuries from Vehicle Collision in 2024

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred in October of 2024 in Temple Hills. The deceased pedestrian is 41-year-old Kelvin Eugene Jackson of Washington, D.C.

 

On October 24, 2024, at approximately 11:00 pm, officers responded to the 3100 block of Branch for a struck pedestrian. Jackson was located in the roadway and was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. He died on January 11, 2026.

 

The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was attempting to cross Branch Avenue when, for reasons now under investigation, he was struck by a vehicle traveling northbound towards Suitland Parkway. The driver, who was not injured, remained on scene.

PGPD Homicide Unit Charges Four Suspects in Teen’s Murder

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit charged four suspects in connection with the murder of a teenager at a park in College Park. The suspects are 18-year-old Jose Merlos-Majano, 21-year-old Alan Josai Garcia-Padilla and 19-year-old William Cuellar Gutierrez. These three suspects are from Washington, DC. A fourth suspect, a 17-year-old from Hyattsville, is also charged. All four suspects are in custody and charged with the murder of 14-year-old Jefferson Amaya-Ayala of Washington, DC. This extensive investigation is being conducted jointly with the FBI Baltimore Field Office.

 

On November 3, 2025, while assisting the Metropolitan Police Department and FBI Cross Border Task Force with a missing persons investigation, what appeared to be possible human remains were located during a search of Indian Creek Stream Valley Park in College Park. The remains were sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) which were subsequently positively identified as Amaya-Ayala. The OCME ruled the victim died from multiple injuries and the manner ruled a homicide.  

 

Through various investigative techniques during this exhaustive investigation, detectives identified the four suspects. The preliminary investigation suggests the victim was lured to the park and murdered on August 2, 2025. The victim knew at least one of the four suspects. This murder appears gang-related however the motive remains under investigation.

 

The U.S. Marshals Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force assisted the PGPD’s Fugitive Unit and FBI Baltimore Field Office in three of the apprehensions. The PGPD also credits the assistance of the Metropolitan Police Department and the Alexandria Police Department. Cuellar Gutierrez and the 17-year-old suspect are in custody of the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections. Merlos-Majano is in custody in Washington, DC, pending extradition to Prince George’s County. Garcia-Padilla is in custody in Alexandria, VA, pending extradition to Prince George’s County.

 

The murder in August occurred in the jurisdiction of Maryland-National Capital Park Police Prince George’s County Division. The Prince George’s County Police Department investigates all homicides that occur in their jurisdiction.
