PGPD Searches for Critical Missing Person

Updated July 2, 2013: Mr. Cheeks has been found in good health.

The Prince George’s County Police Department is seeking the community’s assistance in locating a critical missing person.  He is identified as 86-year-old Willie Clarence Cheeks of the 6000 block of Sargent Road in Chillum.  He was last seen walking near his home around 2:00 pm on July 2, 2013.  Cheeks suffers from Alzheimer’s and may be in need of medication.

Cheeks is described as a black male, 6’1”, 160 pounds, with a grey goatee and brown eyes.  He was last seen wearing a burgundy shirt and blue jeans.

PGPD Releases Sketch of Sexual Assault Suspect

The Prince George's County Police Department is asking for the community's assistance in identifying the suspect seen in this composite sketch.  He is wanted for the sexual assault of a seven-year-old girl in Upper Marlboro on June 22, 2013.  A cash reward is being offered in this case.

The suspect is described as a white male with an average build.  At the time of assault, he had short cropped hair with a receding hair line and a goatee-style salt and pepper beard.  He also had a piercing in his tongue that's described as a round ball.


The victim was assaulted in the 8800 block of Heathermore Boulevard in the Marlton neighborhood of Upper Marlboro.  Prince George's County Police detectives are actively investigating this case and are asking the community to continue providing critical information.

PGPD Investigating Fatal Car Crash in Bladensburg


The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating a fatal car crash in Bladensburg.

On June 26, 2013 at approximately 10:45 am, patrol officers were called to the 5400 block of Annapolis Road for a single car crash. Upon arrival, patrol officers found the 49-year-old male driver in critical condition.  He was taken to an area hospital where he died of his injuries on June 28, 2013.  He is identified as Kerry Louis Johnson of the 3600 block of 55th Avenue in Hyattsville.

The preliminary investigation reveals Johnson was driving on Annapolis Road when he lost control of his car, left the roadway and hit a utility pole. The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating why he initially lost control.  At this time, weather, speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors.

PGPD Obtains Arrest Warrant for Murder Suspect

The Prince George’s County Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance in locating 23-year-old Joshua James Jones of the 2200 block of Columbia Place in Landover.  Jones is wanted for the murder of Jerome Zephier Peters.

On June 30, 2013 at approximately 1:15 am, patrol officers were called to the 2900 block of St. Clair Drive in Hillcrest Heights for a shooting.  Upon their arrival, the officers found Peters suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. 

Detectives believe this murder is domestic-related.  Peters was at a family member's home caring for his young child.  The child's mother and Jones arrived to pick up the child when an argument between the two men ensued.  During that argument, Jones shot Peters.
