Three 15-Year-old Juveniles & 18-Year-Old Adult Arrested in Connection With Armed Carjacking

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Carjacking Interdiction Unit charged three juveniles and an 18-year-old male in connection with an armed carjacking on Wednesday. The 18-year-old suspect is Zaquan Graham of Landover. Three 15-year-old males are also charged in the case. One of those juveniles is from Washington, DC, and the two others are from Upper Marlboro. The15 year olds are charged as juveniles.

On April 5, 2023, at approximately 6:10 pm, a victim called 911 to report he had just been carjacked at gunpoint in the 8000 block of James Street in the unincorporated section of Upper Marlboro. At 9:15 pm, Carjacking Interdiction Unit officers observed the carjacked car not far from the crime scene and attempted to conduct a stop. The driver refused to stop. A pursuit was authorized which ended on the Suitland Parkway. All four occupants of the carjacked vehicle bailed out of the car. Officers with Division V, VIII, the K9 section, the Guardian helicopter and the Carjacking Interdiction Unit canvassed the area. The four suspects were located and taken into custody. A handgun was recovered near the arrest scene.

One of the 15-year-old suspects is charged with armed carjacking. The remaining three suspects are charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle and handgun related offenses.

So far in 2023, the Carjacking Interdiction Unit has charged 35 juveniles and 22 adults in connection with carjacking cases.

PGPD Arrests Six Additional Juveniles in Carjacking Cases; Three Loaded Ghost Guns Recovered

The Carjacking Interdiction Unit charged six juveniles in connection with two recent carjacking cases. During their arrests, officers recovered a total of three loaded ghost guns (unserialized).

On April 2, 2023, at approximately 1:30 pm, patrol officers assigned to our Division VIII station responded to the report of an attempted armed carjacking in the 1900 block of County Road in District Heights. Responding officers observed the two suspects running from the scene. After a short foot pursuit, the officers arrested both juveniles – a 17-year-old male from Temple Hills and a 16-year-old male from Fort Washington. Both juveniles were each in possession of a loaded ghost gun. They are charged as adults with attempted armed carjacking and firearms offenses. They were transported to the Department of Corrections. 

In a separate case, on March 30, 2023, members of the PGPD’s Washington Area Vehicle Enforcement team located a carjacked vehicle in the area of Addison Road and Central Avenue. The vehicle had been carjacked at gunpoint on March 27, 2023, in the 7500 block of Marlboro Pike in Forestville. The officers stopped the vehicle and arrested the four juveniles inside. A loaded ghost gun was recovered in the vehicle. The suspects – all 15-year-old males from Washington, DC, are charged as juveniles with unauthorized use of a vehicle and possession of a firearm.    

So far in 2023, the Carjacking Interdiction Unit has charged 32 juveniles and 19 adults in connection with carjacking cases.

PGPD Investigating Fatal Collision in Capitol Heights

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision that occurred Sunday morning in Capitol Heights. The deceased driver is 26-year-old Petra Jenkins of Temple Hills. 

On April 2, 2023, at approximately 7:20 am, officers responded to the 6600 block of Walker Mill Road for a single-vehicle collision.  

 

The preliminary investigation revealed Jenkins was traveling northbound on Walker Mill Road toward Addison Road, when for reasons now under investigation, she lost control of her vehicle and struck a tree. She was pronounced deceased on the scene.

PGPD Investigating Fatal Collision in Brandywine

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision that occurred Saturday morning in Brandywine. The deceased driver is 41-year-old Michelle Develbis of White Plains, MD. 

On April 1, 2023, at approximately 10:00 am, officers responded to the 15000 block of McKendree Road for a single-vehicle collision.  

 

The preliminary investigation revealed Develbis was traveling eastbound on McKendree Road, when for reasons now under investigation, she lost control of her vehicle and struck a tree. She was pronounced deceased on the scene.
