PGPD Investigating Fatal Collision in Laurel
On August 12, 2025, officers responded to a single-vehicle collision in the 11400 block of Laurel Bowie Road in the unincorporated section of Laurel which had occurred at approximately 12:05 am.
The preliminary investigation indicates Smith was traveling southbound on Laurel Bowie Road, when for reasons still under investigation, he lost control of the vehicle and struck multiple trees. Smith died at the scene.

PGPD Arrests Suspect for Fatal Shooting in Accokeek
On August 8, 2025, at approximately 12:00 am, officers responded to the 16000 block of Caribbean Way for the report of a shooting. Officers located Gene Garrett Jr. inside the residence suffering from a gunshot wound(s). He was pronounced dead on the scene.
The preliminary investigation revealed the suspect shot the victim as a result of an on-going dispute. Green and Garrett were known to each other and were co-habitants. Green was taken into custody on the scene without incident. He is charged with first degree murder, assault, and additional related charges. He is in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no bond status.

PGPD Investigating Fatal Collision in Clinton
The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal crash that occurred in Clinton on Wednesday night. The deceased passenger is 19-year-old Adrianna Alicka of Hughesville.
On August 6, 2025, at approximately 10:45 pm, officers responded to a single-vehicle collision in the 11100 block of Tippett Road. Alicka was pronounced dead at the scene. A second passenger was taken to the hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening. The driver was not injured.
The preliminary investigation indicates the driver was traveling southbound on Tippett Road when for reasons still under investigation, the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a utility pole.
PGPD Releases Video of Murder Suspect Who Fled on Bicycle
The Homicide Unit is asking for the community’s assistance in identifying the suspect wanted for a recent fatal shooting. The suspect arrived to and then fled the scene on a bicycle. The suspect is wanted for the murder of 33-year-old William Denard Askew of Greenbelt. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.
On July 25, 2025, at approximately 10:20 pm, officers responded to a shooting in the 13200 block of Laurel Bowie Road in the unincorporated section of Laurel. Officers located Askew in the roadway near the shooting scene suffering from gunshot wound(s). He died on the scene.
Detectives are working to determine a motive for the murder.

PGPD Investigating Fatal Shooting
Homicide Unit detectives are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in Largo Friday afternoon. The victim is 41-year-old Demetrius Moore of Largo. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.
On August 1, 2025, at approximately 4:45 pm, officers responded to a shooting in the 200 block of Harry S. Truman Drive. Once on scene, officers located the victim outside suffering from a gunshot wound(s). He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Detectives are working to determine a motive and identify a suspect(s).

PGPD Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Hit-And-Run in Oxon Hill
The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is seeking the community’s assistance in identifying the driver and vehicle involved in a fatal pedestrian hit-and-run that occurred early Friday morning in Temple Hills. The identity of the pedestrian, a male, will be released once his family is located and notified.
On August 1, 2025, at approximately 3:30 am, officers responded to the area of Branch Avenue and Woods Way for a collision involving a pedestrian. Officers located the victim in the roadway suffering from trauma. He died on the scene.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the involved driver struck the pedestrian while traveling southbound on Branch Avenue. The driver did not remain on the scene. Investigators believe the striking vehicle is a dark colored Honda Civic that likely sustained front-end damage.
