PGPD Arrests Suspect in Oxon Hill Fatal Shooting

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit identified and charged a man in connection to a fatal shooting in July in Oxon Hill. The suspect is 45-year-old Daniel William Jackson of Washington, DC. He is charged with the murder of 31-year-old Deon Damien Thomas of Washington, DC.

On July 12, 2025, at approximately 8:20 pm, officers responded to a shooting in the 5100 block of Indian Head Highway in Oxon Hill. Officers located Thomas outside suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The motive for this fatal shooting remains under investigation.

The PGPD’s Fugitive Unit located and arrested Jackson on Thursday. He is charged with first and second degree murder and additional charges and is in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.

PGPD Investigating Fatal Collision in Laurel

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal crash that occurred early Tuesday morning. The deceased driver is 40-year-old Louis Sanchez Smith of Laurel. 

On August 12, 2025, officers responded to a single-vehicle collision in the 11400 block of Laurel Bowie Road in the unincorporated section of Laurel which had occurred at approximately 12:05 am.

The preliminary investigation indicates Smith was traveling southbound on Laurel Bowie Road, when for reasons still under investigation, he lost control of the vehicle and struck multiple trees. Smith died at the scene.

PGPD Arrests Suspect for Fatal Shooting in Accokeek

Prince George’s County Police Homicide detectives arrested a man in connection with the murder of his mother’s boyfriend. The suspect is 24-year-old Clarence Green Jr. of Accokeek. He is charged with the murder of 38-year-old Gene Garrett Jr. of Accokeek. 

On August 8, 2025, at approximately 12:00 am, officers responded to the 16000 block of Caribbean Way for the report of a shooting. Officers located Gene Garrett Jr. inside the residence suffering from a gunshot wound(s). He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The preliminary investigation revealed the suspect shot the victim as a result of an on-going dispute. Green and Garrett were known to each other and were co-habitants. Green was taken into custody on the scene without incident. He is charged with first degree murder, assault, and additional related charges. He is in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no bond status.

PGPD Investigating Fatal Collision in Clinton

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal crash that occurred in Clinton on Wednesday night. The deceased passenger is 19-year-old Adrianna Alicka of Hughesville. 

 

On August 6, 2025, at approximately 10:45 pm, officers responded to a single-vehicle collision in the 11100 block of Tippett Road. Alicka was pronounced dead at the scene. A second passenger was taken to the hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening. The driver was not injured.

 

The preliminary investigation indicates the driver was traveling southbound on Tippett Road when for reasons still under investigation, the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a utility pole.

PGPD Releases Video of Murder Suspect Who Fled on Bicycle

 

The Homicide Unit is asking for the community’s assistance in identifying the suspect wanted for a recent fatal shooting. The suspect arrived to and then fled the scene on a bicycle. The suspect is wanted for the murder of 33-year-old William Denard Askew of Greenbelt. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.

On July 25, 2025, at approximately 10:20 pm, officers responded to a shooting in the 13200 block of Laurel Bowie Road in the unincorporated section of Laurel. Officers located Askew in the roadway near the shooting scene suffering from gunshot wound(s). He died on the scene. 

 

Detectives are working to determine a motive for the murder.

PGPD Investigating Fatal Shooting

Homicide Unit detectives are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in Largo Friday afternoon. The victim is 41-year-old Demetrius Moore of Largo. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.

On August 1, 2025, at approximately 4:45 pm, officers responded to a shooting in the 200 block of Harry S. Truman Drive. Once on scene, officers located the victim outside suffering from a gunshot wound(s). He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Detectives are working to determine a motive and identify a suspect(s).

PGPD Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Hit-And-Run in Oxon Hill

 The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is seeking the community’s assistance in identifying the driver and vehicle involved in a fatal pedestrian hit-and-run that occurred early Friday morning in Temple Hills. The identity of the pedestrian, a male, will be released once his family is located and notified.

 

On August 1, 2025, at approximately 3:30 am, officers responded to the area of Branch Avenue and Woods Way for a collision involving a pedestrian. Officers located the victim in the roadway suffering from trauma. He died on the scene.

 

The preliminary investigation revealed that the involved driver struck the pedestrian while traveling southbound on Branch Avenue. The driver did not remain on the scene. Investigators believe the striking vehicle is a dark colored Honda Civic that likely sustained front-end damage.

PGPD Arrest Suspect in Connection to 2023 Fatal Shooting

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit charged a suspect in connection to a fatal shooting in August of 2023 in Clinton. The suspect is 18-year-old Stephon Johnson of District Heights. He is charged with the murder of 16-year-old Robert Isiah Walker of Clinton.

On August 12, 2023, at approximately 2:40 am, officers responded to a gas station in the 9800 block of Piscataway Road for the report of a shooting. Walker was located inside of the business suffering from a gunshot wound(s). He was pronounced deceased on the scene.

The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.

Johnson is charged with first and second degree murder and related charges. He is in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.

PGPD Arrests Suspect for the Murder of His Roommate

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit arrested a man in connection with the murder of his roommate in February. The suspect is 33-year-old Ricardo Cortez O’Neal of Washington, DC. He’s charged with the murder of 49-year-old Jamil Offutt of Capitol Heights.

On February 13, 2025, Landover District III officers responded to the 6900 block of Valley Park Road in unincorporated Capitol Heights for a physical dispute between tenants. Upon arrival, they found the victim in the basement unconscious and suffering from trauma. Offutt was transported to a hospital where he died on February 22, 2025.

The Homicide Unit was notified and assumed the investigation into his death. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner concluded Offutt's death resulted from blunt force trauma and ultimately ruled it a homicide. Detectives arrested the suspect on July 29, 2025.

He is charged with second degree murder, involuntary manslaughter and additional charges and is in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.

PGPD Charges Swim Instructor With Sexual Assaulting Children

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Child and Vulnerable Adult Abuse Unit (CVAA) charged a man with sexually assaulting two children whom he was teaching to swim. The suspect is 25-year-old Tyler Wang’Ombe-Gichuru of Silver Spring.

On July 22, 2025, a relative of the two victims contacted the Prince George’s County Police Department to report the suspect sexually assaulted the two children, both under the age of 10, during a swim lesson. The preliminary investigation revealed the victims’ family hired the suspect to provide the private swim lessons. The sexual assaults occurred at a community center in Upper Marlboro on July 22, 2025. The suspect is not an employee of the community center.  

Wang’Ombe-Gichuru faces multiple charges to include two counts of second degree rape – child under 13, assault and multiple additional sexual offenses. He is currently in custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.

At this time, the suspect is only charged in connection with this case. During this investigation, CVAA detectives learned the suspect first met the victims’ family at a trampoline park in Laurel where the suspect works. This remains an active investigation.

PGPD Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Hit-and-Run in City of Seat Pleasant

Update 7/31/25: Investigators are trying to locate and identify two vehicles of interest. The dark-colored Toyota Corolla will likely have front-end damage. The white Nissan Altima will likely be missing the front plastic wheel well liners and have undercarriage damage.  The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit has assumed the investigation into a now fatal pedestrian hit-and-run that occurred in the city of Seat Pleasant. The deceased pedestrian is 25-year-old Antone Brooks of Upper Marlboro.

 

On July 26, 2025, at approximately 9:45 pm, officers with the Seat Pleasant Police Department responded to the 9000 block of Central Avenue for a pedestrian collision. The victim was located in the roadway and transported to the hospital. He died on July 27, 2025.

            

The preliminary investigation indicates the victim was struck by two drivers who were traveling in the eastbound lanes. Neither driver stopped. One of the striking vehicles is possibly a white compact sedan.

 

The Prince George’s County Police Department investigates all fatal collisions that occur in the city of Seat Pleasant.

PGPD Investigating Homicide in Beltsville

 The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit is investigating a homicide in Beltsville late Thursday night. The decedent is 67-year-old Neville Robinson of Beltsville.

On July 24, 2025, at approximately 10:40 pm, officers responded to the report of a shooting in the 11400 block of Rhode Island Avenue. The decedent was located outside in the roadway suffering what was initially believed to be gunshot wounds.  

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the exact cause of death, however, at this time, it does not appear the decedent was shot. Once on scene, Homicide Unit detectives discovered the decedent had been struck by a vehicle outside of his home causing severe trauma. The driver of the striking vehicle is a 16-year-old male from Bowie who has been identified and located. The preliminary investigation indicates the teenager and Robinson had been involved in an ongoing dispute. On Thursday night, the teenager went to Robinson’s home. The decedent came outside and fired a weapon at the teenager as the teen was driving away. The teenager was not injured.  

Homicide Unit detectives are actively working to determine the entirety of the circumstances surrounding this incident and are in consultation with the State’s Attorney’s Office. At this time, there are no charges against the driver.

PGPD Investigating Domestic-Related Fatal Shooting

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit charged a suspect with fatally shooting her husband inside of their home on Saturday. The victim is 53-year-old Damian Ward of Bowie. The suspect is 50-year-old Nicole Lanett Ward.

On July 19, 2025, at approximately 1:45 am, officers were dispatched to the couple’s home in the 13200 block of Old Chapel Road in the unincorporated section of Bowie. Officers located the victim inside suffering from a gunshot wound. He died at the scene.

The preliminary investigation revealed the suspect shot the victim during an argument.

Nicole Ward is charged with first and second degree murder and related charges. She’s in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.

 The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Sunday morning in Clinton. The victim is 17-year-old Camron Anthony Adams of Clinton. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.

On July 20, 2025, at approximately 11:20 am, officers responded to a shooting in the 6900 block of Killarney Street. Officers located the victim inside of a car suffering from a gunshot wound. He died at the scene. A second adult male victim was also shot. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Detectives are working to determine a motive and identify a suspect(s).

PGPD Investigating Fatal Collision in the City of New Carrollton

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision involving a bicyclist that occurred Thursday evening in the city of New Carrollton. The deceased bicyclist is 55-year-old Tara Carter of Lanham. 

On July 17, 2025, at approximately 7:55 pm, City of New Carrollton police officers responded to a collision in the 8400 block of Annapolis Road. Carter was transported to a hospital where she later died. The involved driver failed to remain on the scene, but thanks to a witness and surveillance video, the driver was located shortly after by New Carrollton Police officers.

The preliminary investigation revealed the involved driver struck the victim while traveling eastbound on Annapolis Road. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.

The Prince George’s County Police Department investigates all fatal collisions in the city of New Carrollton.

Shooting Victim Dies of Injuries; Suspect in Custody

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit charged a suspect in connection with a now fatal shooting in Temple Hills on Sunday. The suspect is 20-year-old Keyri Escalante of Fort Washington. The victim is 18-year-old Darlyn Florian-Granados of Alexandria, VA. 

On July 13, 2025, at approximately 3:20 am, officers responded to a shooting in the 5400 block of Broadwater Street. Once on scene, officers located the victim inside of a home suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital where he died on July 15, 2025.

Immediately after the shooting, detectives with the Gun Crimes Unit responded to the scene. The preliminary investigation revealed the suspect and victim were at a party when the shooting occurred. Gun Crimes Unit detectives charged the suspect with attempted murder and transported her to the Department of Corrections where she remains.  

Homicide Unit detectives assumed the investigation following the victim’s death. Detectives have obtained an arrest warrant charging her with first and second degree murder.  

The circumstances for the shooting remains under investigation.
