PGPD Investigates Attempted Armed Robbery in College Park

On February 6, 2013, the Prince George’s County Police Department arrested 21 year-old Demonte Antonio Spearman, of the 4700 block of Navahoe Street in College Park.  Spearman was interviewed by detectives and admitted to his involvement in the January 27, 2013 attempted robbery.


The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating an attempted armed robbery in College Park.

On January 27, 2013, around 1:00 pm, police officers were called to the 8100 block of Baltimore Avenue for the report of an attempted armed robbery.  The preliminary investigation reveals the suspect approached a man inside a common area of an apartment building and produced what is believed to be a fake handgun.  The suspect demanded the victim’s computer. The victim refused and tried to fight off the suspect.  During that confrontation, a  witness came into the room and tried to break up the fight. The suspect ran away. Neither the victim nor the witness were hurt.  The victim is a student at the University of Maryland.

The suspect is described as a black male wearing a mask, approximately 20 years-old, average height and build. He was last seen wearing a black jacket and blue jeans.
