Homicide Detectives Arrest Father in Connection with the Death of His Newborn Baby

Detectives with our Homicide Unit arrested a man in connection with the murder of his 3-week-old daughter, Kendra Hernandez of the 6800 block of Patterson Street in Riverdale. The suspect is 27-year-old Nestor Hernandez of the same address. 

On April 8, 2017, at approximately 12:50 pm, Prince George’s County Fire/EMS responded to the 6800 block of Patterson Street for a report of an unresponsive baby. The infant was taken to the hospital where she died the next day. An autopsy revealed the cause of death was blunt force trauma. The manner of death was ruled a homicide.

Homicide detectives charged Nestor Hernandez with Child Abuse Resulting in Death and related offenses.  He had sole custody of the infant when she sustained the injuries that led to her death.  Hernandez is in the custody of the Department of Corrections.
