The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal crash in District Heights on Thursday. The victim is 48-year-old Rudolph Wayne of Gramercy Place in Columbia.
On January 25th, at approximately 2:25 pm, patrol officers were called to the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue at Brooks Drive for the report of a collision involving three cars.
The preliminary investigation reveals a car was traveling southbound on Pennsylvania Avenue when for reasons which are under investigation, the car left the roadway, crossed the shoulder and ultimately struck two cars that were sitting at a light on Brooks Drive. Wayne was the driver of one of the struck vehicles. He was pronounced dead at a hospital. The driver of the second struck car suffered what appear to be minor injuries. The driver of the striking vehicle and the passenger were transported to the hospital with what appear to be non-life threatening injuries.
