Police Charge A Man For Temple Hills Murder

The Homicide Unit is investigating a shooting that took place on July 11, 2021 in Temple Hills. The suspect is 21-year-old Justice Simmons of the 4200 block of Oglethorpe Street in Hyattsville. He’s charged with the fatal shooting of 20-year-old Rachael Nelson of Washington, DC. Two additional victims were also shot. One remains hospitalized with critical injuries, the other has suffered non-life threatening injuries. 

 

On July 11, 2021, at approximately 8:25 pm, officers responded to the 2800 block of Bellbrook Drive for the report of a shooting. Once on scene, officers located Nelson and two other victims suffering from gunshot wounds. All three were taken to a hospital for treatment. On July 22, 2021, Nelson succumbed to her injuries.  

The preliminarily investigation reveals the shooting occurred after an argument at a party.

 

Simmons is charged with first and second degree murder. He is in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.

Policía Acusa a Individuo por Asesinato en Temple Hills

La Unidad de Homicidios investiga un tiroteo que se suscitó el 11 de julio de 2021 en Temple Hills. El sospechoso fue identificado como Justice Simmons, de 21 años de edad y vecino de la cuadra 4200 de Oglethorpe Street en Hyattsville. A este se le imputa el asesinato de Rachael Nelson, de 20 años de edad y vecina de Washington DC. Dos víctimas adicionales también resultaron heridas por los disparos. Una permanece hospitalizada debido a heridas severas mientras que la otra sostuvo heridas menos graves.

El 11 de julio de 2021, a eso de las 8:25 pm, oficiales acudieron a la cuadra 2800 de Bellbrook Drive tras recibir información sobre un tiroteo. Una vez llearon a la escena, estos hallaron a Nelson y a dos víctimas más con múltiples heridas de bala. Todos fueron trasladados a hospitales para recibir atención médica. El 22 de julio de 2021, Nelson murió de sus heridas.

La investigación preliminar reveló que el tiroteo se produjo luego de un argumento que los involucrados tuvieron en una fiesta.

Simmons enfrenta cargos por asesinato en primer y segundo grado. Este se encuentra bajo la custodia del Departamento de Corrección, sin derecho a fianza.
