The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit has assumed the investigation into a now fatal assault that occurred earlier this month in Oxon Hill. The suspect is 32-year-old DeAndre Washington of Temple Hills. The victim is identified as 55-year-old Thomas Johnson IV of Washington, DC.
On April 2, 2025, at approximately 9:50 am, officers responded to the 2300 block of Iverson Street for an assault. The victim was located outside of a business suffering from severe head trauma. He died of his injuries on April 10, 2025.

Investigators assigned to Oxon Hill - Division IV led the investigation into the assault and were able to identify Washington as the suspect. Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for him charging him with attempted first degree murder and related charges. The PGPD’s Fugitive Unit located and arrested Washington on April 8, 2025.
The preliminary investigation revealed the suspect physically assaulted the victim outside of a store. The motive is under investigation. At this time, it does not appear they were known to each other.

Homicide Unit detectives are in consultation with the State’s Attorney’s Office to upgrade the charges against Washington. He remains in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
