PGPD Arrests Suspect in March Fatal Shooting

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit charged a suspect in connection with a fatal shooting in the unincorporated section of Capitol Heights. The suspect is 60-year-old Michael Holly of Capitol Heights. He’s charged with the murder of 24-year-old Isiah Hunter of Washington, DC.


On March 23, 2025, at approximately 1:40 pm, officers responded to the 1200 block of Boones Hill Road for a report of a deceased male.  Officers located the victim suffering from gunshot wounds in a wooded area. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

 

Preliminarily, detectives believe the suspect shot the victim during a dispute. They are known to each other.

 

The PGPD’s Fugitive Unit located and arrested Holly on Tuesday. He is charged with first and second degree murder and related charges. He is in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.

PGPD Obtains Arrest Warrant for Suspect in Double Fatal Shooting

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit obtained an arrest warrant in connection with a double fatal shooting in Fort Washington on Tuesday night. The suspect is currently in custody in Washington, DC, pending extradition to Prince George’s County. He is 27-year-old Duan Goddard of Fort Washington. He’s charged with fatally shooting two teenagers. They are 16-year-old Thomas Smith, Jr. of Washington, DC, and 16-year-old Michael Bassett of Temple Hills.

 

On May 27, 2025, at approximately 9:35 pm, PGPD officers were in the area of the 5500 block of Haras Place when they heard the sound of gunshots. The officers canvassed the area and located the two victims outside of an apartment building in the 5200 block of Haras Place. Smith was pronounced dead on the scene. Bassett died a short time later at a hospital. A third teenager who was with the victims was also shot at but was not struck.

 

Responding officers observed an SUV suspected to the be involved in the shooting fleeing the scene and attempted a traffic stop. The driver refused to stop. Officers pursued the SUV into Washington, DC, where the suspect was taken into custody.

 

The preliminary investigation revealed the suspect shot the victims during a potential illegal drug deal. The victims arrived to the scene in a vehicle that had been carjacked on St. Barnabas Road in Oxon Hill on May 23, 2025. Multiple firearms were recovered at the shooting scene on Haras Place.

 

Goddard is charged with first and second degree murder and related charges.

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit arrested and charged a man in connection with a recent fatal shooting in Lanham. The suspect is 25-year-old Kyon Adams of Lanham. He’s charged with the murder of 33-year-old Cameron Smith of Lanham.

On May 19, 2025, at approximately 8:20 pm, officers responded to the 9300 block of Lanham Severn Road for the report of a shooting. Officers located Smith suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a hospital, where he died a short time later. A second victim was also shot. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Through various investigative techniques, detectives identified Adams as the suspect. The preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect shot the victim over a dispute.

Adams is charged with first degree murder and related charges. He’s in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.

PGPD Arrests Suspect in Connection With Clinton Fatal Shooting

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit charged a man in connection to the fatal shooting in Clinton earlier this month. The suspect is 53-year-old Chelley Thorne of Accokeek. He is charged with the murder of 30-year-old Anthony Traevon Dawson of Clinton. 

On May 12, 2025, at approximately 9:40 pm, officers responded to the 9800 block of Piscataway Road for the report of a shooting. Once on scene, they located the victim outside in a parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The preliminary investigation revealed Thorne and Dawson were known to each other. The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.

Thorne is charged with first and second degree murder and related charges. He is in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.

PGPD Arrests & Charges Two Suspects in 2024 Riverdale Murder

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit identified and charged two suspects in connection with a fatal shooting in Riverdale last October. The suspects are 33-year-old Jose Guardado-Orellana of Mount Rainier and 30-year-old Santiago De La O Lemus of Landover. They are charged with murdering 38-year-old Jeiver Pozuelos Cervantes of Hyattsville.

On October 24, 2024, at approximately 6:40 am, a citizen flagged down patrol officers in the area of Veterans Parkway and Riverdale Road to alert them to an unresponsive man on the side of the road. The victim was located suffering from gunshot wounds and pronounced dead on the scene.

Through various investigative techniques, detectives identified both De La O Lemus and Guardado-Orellana as the suspects in this fatal shooting. On May 12, 2025, the PGPD’s Fugitive Unit, with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force, located and arrested Guardado-Orellana in Baltimore. On December 4, 2024, with the assistance of the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshals Service, De La O Lemus was taken into custody in Orangeburg, South Carolina. He has since been extradited to Prince George’s County.

The preliminary investigation revealed the suspects shot the victim during a robbery.

Both suspects are charged with first and second degree murder and related charges. They are in the custody of the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.

The Prince George’s County Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in finding a missing child. He is identified as 12-year-old Makhi Jefferson. He was last seen in the 4300 block of Ridgecrest Drive in Suitland on May 19, 2025, at approximately 9:00 am.

Makhi is a Black male, 5'4" tall and 120 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black sweater, black pants, and a multi-colored book bag.

PGPD Investigating Fatal Shooting in Lanham

Homicide Unit detectives are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in Lanham on Monday night. The victim is 33-year-old Cameron Smith of Lanham. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.

On May 19, 2025, at approximately 8:20 pm, officers responded to the 9300 block of Lanham Severn Road for the report of a shooting. Officers located Smith suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a hospital, where he died a short time later. A second victim was also shot. He remains in critical but stable condition.

Retired Firefighter Charged With Rape & Child Abuse

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Child and Vulnerable Adult Abuse Unit (CVAA) charged a retired Prince George’s County Fire Department (PGFD) firefighter for sexually assaulting a junior firefighter in the 1990s. The suspect is 61-year-old John Inman of Myrtle Beach, SC. He retired from the PGFD in 2017. 
 
In July of 2024, the Prince George’s County Police Department was made aware of the allegations and opened an investigation. The CVAA investigation revealed between 1991-1996, the suspect, who was a paid PGFD firefighter, sexually assaulted the victim multiple times. During those years, the victim was between the ages of 13 and 17 years old. The assaults occurred in multiple locations to include the suspect’s home and the Hyattsville Fire Station on Belcrest Road. 
 
CVAA detectives obtained a warrant for Inman’s arrest on May 12, 2025. He turned himself in on May 17, 2025. He is charged with second degree rape, child abuse-custodian and related charges.
