Prince George’s County Police Department Homicide Unit detectives are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Wednesday evening in Landover. The victim is 48-year-old Curtis Thornton Jr., of Capitol Heights.
On February 4, 2026, at approximately 6:40 pm, officers responded to the 2400 block of Brightseat Road for a shooting. Once on scene, they located Thornton Jr. suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Detectives are working to determine a motive and identify a suspect(s).
