PGPD Releases Surveillance Photos of Suspects Wanted for Attempted ATM Thefts

The Prince George’s County Police Department is seeking the community’s help in identifying the two suspects in the above surveillance photographs. They are wanted in connection with three armed robberies. In each incident, the suspects tried to steal ATMs.

The most recent robbery took place on November 6, 2013, at about 3:00 am. The two suspects robbed a convenience store in the 9400 block of Livingston Road in Fort Washington. They then drove away in a silver Kia Optima.

The two suspects are also wanted for a gas station robbery on Auth Road in Camp Springs on October 28^th and for robbing another convenience store on St. Barnabas Road in Oxon Hill on October 18^th.

PGPD Releases Sketch of Sexual Assaults Suspect

Update: Detectives are canvassing the Chillum area today at 2:30 pm with flyers with this suspect sketch. They will concentrate their efforts in the 6700 block of Belcrest Road, close to where the two assaults occurred.

The Prince George's County Police Department is asking for the community's help in identifying the man in this suspect sketch.  He's wanted for two separate sexual assaults in a Chillum neighborhood on October 29, 2013. There is a cash reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in this case.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 30 years old, 5’6” to 5’10”, with a slim build.  He was last seen wearing camouflage pants and a red baseball cap with black or blue brim.

On October 29, 2013, at about 1:15 pm, the suspect assaulted a woman in a wooded area.  A short time later and less than 100 yards away, the same suspect assaulted another female.

Detectives are planning to head back out to the Chillum community this afternoon to pass out flyers with this new sketch.  They will concentrate their efforts in the 6700 block of Belcrest Road, close to where the two assaults occurred.  Detectives continue to follow leads in these cases and are hoping neighbors can provide new information as well.

PGPD Arrests Brothers in Murder of David Jenkins

Updated November 6, 2013:  The Prince George’s County Police Department has arrested two suspects in the murder of David Janard Jenkins.  The suspects are identified as 21-year-old Rayshad Raderrick Stuart and 23-year-old Antjuan Jamala Stuart both of the 2200 block of Brookfield Avenue in Baltimore.  The brothers were arrested at their home with the assistance of the Baltimore City Police Department.

Investigative developments led PGPD detectives to identify the younger brother. He was arrested without incident on November 5, 2013.  During the follow-up investigation, the elder brother was identified.  He was arrested without incident on November 6, 2013. Both admitted their involvement.  The brothers are both charged with first and second degree murder.

Updated November 5, 2013:   The victim is identified as 27-year-old David Janard Jenkins of the 8700 block of Dunbar Avenue in Landover.   Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS.  You do not need to give your name.  A cash reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment.

The Prince George's County Police Department is investigating a homicide in Capitol Heights.

On November 3, 2013, at about 6:30 pm, patrol officers were called to the 300 block of Meadow Way in Landover for the report of a stabbing.  When they arrived, they found a male victim suffering from apparent stab wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The preliminary investigation reveals the victim and a second male had been involved in an altercation with a group of people at a gas station near Brightseat Road and Central Avenue in Capitol Heights.  During the altercation, the two victims were stabbed. The two victims then got into a car and drove to Meadow Way, where one victim died of his injuries. The second victim's injuries are not considered life-threatening.

PGPD Suspends Police Officer Charged in Calvert County

The Prince George’s County Police Department has suspended a 21-year veteran of the department after the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office charged him with multiple counts of sexual assault and other offenses.

The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office arrested Lieutenant John Warhurst on November 5, 2013.  He is assigned to District IV in the Bureau of Patrol. The PGPD immediately suspended the 42 year old’s police powers upon learning of the allegations.  The Prince George’s County Police Department has fully cooperated with and will continue to cooperate with the CCSO during its investigation.  The PGPD will await the outcome of the criminal case against the officer and will then take appropriate administrative action.  The officer has been suspended without pay.

Today, Police Chief Mark Magaw issued a statement reading, “This police department takes very seriously our mission of constitutional, professional and ethical policing.  We strive to be transparent in everything we do. This is our unwavering commitment to the community we serve.”
