PGPD Investigating Fatal Collision in Hyattsville


The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision in Hyattsville. The victim is 55-year-old Daniel Jerome Crum of Somerset Road in Riverdale. The crash occurred in May. Crum recently died of his injuries.
 
On May 15, 2016, at about 4:00 pm, patrol officers were called to Rhode Island Avenue at Charles Armentrout Way for a crash involving a car and a motorcycle.
 
The preliminary investigation reveals Crum, who was on a motorcycle, was heading northbound on Rhode Island Avenue approaching the intersection of Charles Armentrout Way, when he was struck by a car. Preliminarily, it appears the car’s driver failed to yield the right of way and turned into Crum’s path. Crum suffered critical injuries. He died on June 12th.. The driver of the car was not hurt.

Detectives Arrest Suspect in Hyattsville Homicide

The Homicide Unit arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal shooting on Wednesday. The victim is 29-year-old James Albert Haywood of 55th Avenue in Hyattsville. The suspect is 35-year-old Jason Timothy Herring of the 9900 block of Mallard Drive in Laurel.

At about 5:15 pm on June 15th, patrol officers were called to the 3500 block of 55th Avenue in the unincorporated area of Hyattsville for the report of a shooting. When they arrived, officers found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound inside of his home. He was taken to a hospital where he died a short time later. There was a second victim in the home who wasn’t hurt.

The preliminary investigation reveals the fatal shooting stemmed from an ongoing dispute between the victim and suspect.
The suspect is charged with first and second degree murder as well as attempted murder. He is in the custody of the Department of Corrections.

Detectives Arrest Robbery String Suspect

Robbery Unit detectives identified and arrested the man wanted for a string of armed robberies at convenience stores in the county. The suspect is 54-year-old Glen Anthony Williams of the 1800 block of Valley Terrace in Southeast, DC.


We first released surveillance images of the suspect on May 25th after he committed two armed robberies. Our investigation revealed he was linked to a total of four robberies of convenience stores over a six-week period. In each case, he stole cigarettes. No one was hurt in the robberies.


Williams is now charged with armed robbery and is in the custody of the Department of Corrections.

PGPD to Conduct Sobriety Checkpoint


The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Special Operations Division will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint on Friday, June 17, 2016, from 9:00 pm to 3:00 am. Officers will be focusing on the southern portion of the county.
