Shooting Victim Dies of Injuries; Homicide Unit Assumes Investigation

Prince George’s County Police Homicide Unit detectives assumed the investigation into a shooting that occurred in December of 2023. The victim died of his injuries this week. He is identified as 26-year-old Yohans Raynor of Bowie. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.

 

On December 22, 2023, at approximately 2:35 pm, officers responded to the 300 block of Possum Court in the unincorporated section of Capitol Heights for the report of a shooting. Officers located the victim inside a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. On February 6, 2024, the victim was pronounced deceased.

Detectives are working to determine a motive and identify a suspect(s). Preliminarily, detectives do not believe this was a random crime.
