The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit charged two suspects in connection with a fatal shooting on Sunday inside of a laundromat in the town of Edmonston. The suspects are 20-year-old Alex Delgado of Silver Spring and a 17-year-old male from New Carrollton. They are both charged as adults with the murder of 18-year-old Anibal Suazo of Lothian, MD.
On September 8, 2024, at approximately 6:00 pm, officers responded for a shooting in the 4700 block of Kenilworth Avenue. Suazo was located inside of the laundromat suffering from gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead on the scene. A second victim, an adult female, was also located suffering from non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. The suspect, Delgado, was also inside of the business suffering from non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
The second suspect, the 17-year-old male, fled the scene in a car. With the assistance of the PGPD’s Guardian helicopter, patrol officers arrested the 17 year old following an authorized pursuit.
The preliminary investigation revealed the two suspects targeted Suazo at the laundromat. The suspects approached and began to physically assault him. During the assault, Delgado shot both victims. Suazo returned fire. The suspects and Suazo were known to each other. The motive for the assault and shooting is under investigation. Two weapons were recovered at the scene.
Both suspects are charged with first degree murder and related charges. The 17-year-old male is at the Department of Corrections.
