Prince George’s County Police Department Homicide Unit detectives are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the Town of Brentwood. The victim is 16-year-old Ruben Arevalo Saavedra of Hyattsville. Preliminarily, detectives do not believe this was a random crime.
On June 12, 2026, at approximately 4:55 pm, officers responded to a shooting in the 3700 block of Shepherd Street. Officers located the victim outside suffering from a gunshot(s) wound. He died at the scene.
Detectives are actively working to identify a suspect(s) and determine a motive.
The Prince George’s County Police Department investigates all homicides that occur in the Town of Brentwood.
