The Prince George’s County Police Department’s participation in a statewide drunk driving enforcement operation called Project SOLO—Saving Our Loved Ones—had a strong start in its first week.
On November 21, 23, 24, 2012, police officers focused their enforcement along the University Boulevard corridor, the Route 1 corridor, and along East/West Highway between the hours of 9:00 pm and 3:00 am. On those nights, police officers made 200 traffic stops, issuing more than 200 traffic citations, made 12 DUI arrests, and three criminal and drug-related arrests.
The PGPD will continue this enforcement on known high drinking and driving nights through May 2013. The next scheduled enforcement is set for December 7, 2012.
