PGPD Tweeting the Beat Wednesday

The Prince George’s County Police Department will offer the public unfettered access to a day in the life of a Prince George’s County police officer working his beat. Tomorrow, from 9:30 am – 4:00 pm, the head of the Media Relations Division will ride along with District III’s Special Assignment Team and tweet news as it happens. This will include calls for service, interactions with members of the community and any crime-fighting work that occurs. Any information that would either jeopardize a criminal investigation or endanger a citizen or police officer will be kept confidential.

The public can follow along at @PGPDNews and search by the #PGPDTweetAlong hashtag.

The Prince George’s County Police Department has made social media a priority in sharing news with the community. Whether it’s via the Tweet the Chief events with Chief Mark Magaw, to share details about a crime, or to use it as another way to interact with the community and the media, it’s an asset the PGPD is embracing wholeheartedly. The department was also featured in a panel on social media at the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) annual conference last month in San Diego, CA.
