PGPD Investigates Murder in District Heights

Updated July 8, 2013:  The Prince George's County Police Department has arrested a suspect for the murder of Lamont Fleet.  The suspect is identified as 18-year-old Jarhea Carter of the 3200 block of Prince Ranier Place in District Heights.  Carter is charged with second degree murder.  The investigation reveals the suspect and victim got into an argument before the stabbing. 

The Prince George's County Police Department is investigating a murder in District Heights.  The victim is identified as 36-year-old Lamont Xaviar Fleet of the 1700 block of Benning Road in Northeast Washington.  

On July 6, 2013 at approximately 9:45 pm, patrol officers were called to the 3200 block of Prince Ranier Place for the report of disorderly conduct.  Upon their arrival, patrol officers found Fleet in the parking lot suffering from an apparent stab wound.  He died of his injuries at a local hospital.

The preliminary investigation reveals the victim had been at a home on Prince Ranier Place to attend a dinner party.  A physical altercation broke out at the gathering during which the victim was stabbed.  Detectives are pursuing strong leads in the case.
