A Prince George's County Police officer is facing a departmental investigation after an off-duty domestic-related incident in which he pleaded guilty.
On Monday, June 9, 2014, PFC Dwight Jones pleaded guilty to second degree assault in Prince George's County District Court after the domestic incident which occurred in Upper Marlboro on November 30, 2013.
Police Chief Mark Magaw said today, "Our officers are held to the highest standard, whether they are on or off duty. Any behavior that betrays the trust of our community will not be tolerated and is not acceptable."
Jones has been with the department for nine years and is currently assigned to the Telephone Reporting Unit.
The departmental investigation could lead to termination. Jones' police powers are currently suspended and he is on administrative duty.
