Detectives Arrest Two Suspects in Oxon Hill Homicide

       Kyree Williams                               Marcus Heckstall

Homicide Unit detectives identified and charged two suspects in connection with a fatal shooting in Oxon Hill in May. The suspects are 21-year-old Kyree Demarco Williams of the 2000 block of Ewing Avenue in Oxon Hill and 22-year-old Marcus Heckstall of the 1900 block of Rochelle Avenue in District Heights.

On May 20th, at approximately 7:25 pm, patrol officers responded to the 5600 block of Saint Barnabas Road for the report of a shooting. Once on scene, they discovered the victim, 28-year-old Rodney Snowden, outside suffering from gunshot wounds. He died later at a hospital. A second shooting victim was taken to the hospital for treatment.

On May 23rd, Homicide Unit detectives released video of the fatal shooting in an attempt to gather information in the investigation. Thanks to that video release, investigators did learn information critical to the case.

The preliminary investigation reveals the fatal shooting stemmed from a dispute between Williams and the victim. They were acquaintances. Both Williams and Heckstall are charged with first and second degree murder and related charges. They are in custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
