PGPD Searching for Man Who Inappropriately Touched a 4 Year-Old Child in Lewisdale Area

The Prince George’s County Police Department is working to identify and arrest a man who inappropriately touched a young girl in the Lewisdale area.

The preliminary investigation reveals on Saturday, May 25th, in the 1900 block of Amherst Road, the suspect approached the 4 year-old victim while she was outside and told her he would give her some chewing gum if she accompanied him to an apartment building laundry room.  She agreed and once in the laundry room, he touched her buttocks.  Another child interrupted the incident and the little girl ran from the laundry room.   The child’s mother had briefly lost sight of her daughter when the man was able to lure the child away.  We are urging parents in the area to be aware of their surroundings and to please contact police if they notice any suspicious activity.

The current suspect description is vague.  The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, in his 30s, with a thin build and short hair. He wore a blue baseball cap, a bright blue t-shirt and khaki pants.

We have received no other reports of similar crimes in the area.

Anyone with information relevant to this investigation is asked to call the Sexual Assault Unit at 301-772-4908.
