The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a
fatal pedestrian collision that occurred Thursday afternoon in Temple Hills.
The deceased pedestrian is 34-year-old Rosio Sanchez of Hyattsville.
On July 2nd, at approximately 2:20 pm, patrol officers
were called to the intersection of Old Branch Avenue and Allentown Road for a
collision involving two pedestrians and multiple vehicles. One of the
pedestrians, Sanchez, was taken to the hospital where she died of her
injuries.
The preliminary investigation reveals a pickup truck was traveling
southbound on Old Branch Avenue, when for reasons which remain under
investigation, left the roadway and traveled on the sidewalk. The
pickup truck struck two pedestrians who were doing landscaping work on the
sidewalk and continued traveling on the roadway striking three additional
vehicles. The second pedestrian, an adult female, was rushed to a hospital for
critical injuries. One driver, whose car was struck by the pickup truck
suffered what appear to be non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the
hospital. The remaining two drivers were not hurt. All involved drivers
remained on the scene.

PGPD Investiga Mortal Choque Peatonal en Temple Hills
La Unidad de Análisis y
Reconstrucción de Choques investiga un mortal choque contra peatones ocurrido
en Temple Hills el jueves en la tarde. La fenecida peatona fue identificada
como Rosío Sánchez, de 34 años de edad y vecina de Hyattsville.
El 2 de julio, a eso de las 2:20 de
la tarde, oficiales de patrulla acudieron a la intersección entre Old Branch
Avenue y Allentown Road tras recibir información sobre un choque que
involucraba a dos peatonas y múltiples vehículos. Una de las peatonas, Sánchez,
fue trasladada al hospital en donde murió de sus heridas.
La investigación preliminar reveló que
una camioneta viajaba en dirección sur sobre Old Branch Avenue cuando, por
razones que aún permanecen bajo investigación, abandonó la vía de rodaje y se montó en la acera. La camioneta impactó
a dos peatonas quienes hacían trabajo de jardinería y embellecimiento y luego
continuó su paso sobre la carretera, impactando a otros tres vehículos
adicionales. La segunda peatona, una mujer adulta, fue trasladada de emergencia
al hospital debido a sus graves lesiones. Un conductor cuyo vehículo fue
impactado por la camioneta sufrió lo que parecían ser lesiones menos severas y
fue trasladado al hospital. Los restantes conductores resultaron ilesos. Todos
