The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is asking for the community’s assistance as we continue to investigate a fatal pedestrian hit-and-run in Greenbelt earlier this month. The name of the deceased pedestrian, an adult male, will be released once his family is notified. We are looking for the driver who fled the scene and the involved car.
On November 12, 2022, at
approximately 11:15 am, officers with the Greenbelt Police Department responded
to the area of northbound Kenilworth Avenue and Greenbelt Road.

The preliminary
investigation revealed the victim was struck by a vehicle and suffered fatal
injuries. The striking driver did not remain on the scene. Preliminarily, investigators believe the vehicle
is a 2018-2021 BMW X3. The vehicle is suspected to
have damage
on its passenger side, missing portions of its passenger side front wheel well
trim as well as damage to the passenger side headlight lens.
