PGPD Homicide Unit Identifies and Charges Suspect in Capitol Heights Murder

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit identified and charged a suspect in connection with a recent fatal shooting in the town of Capitol Heights. The suspect is 36-year-old Troy Medley of Baltimore. He’s charged with murdering 62-year-old Lidia Chinchilla De Carrillo of El Salvador. 

On March 28, 2023, at approximately 9:10 pm, officers with the Capitol Heights Police Department and the PGPD responded to the 600 block of Drum Avenue for a shooting. Officers located the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. She was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced deceased a short time later.

Through various investigative techniques, Homicide Unit detectives identified Medley as the suspect. The preliminary investigation reveals no connection between the suspect and victim. The motive remains under investigation.  

Medley is charged with first and second degree murder, assault, firearms offenses and additional charges. He was taken into custody in the city of Baltimore on April 6, 2023, on unrelated charges. He remains in custody in Baltimore pending extradition to Prince George’s County.

The Prince George’s County Police Department investigates all homicides in the town of Capitol Heights.
