Update October 9, 2023: The victim
has been identified as 36-year-old Jammi Cooper of Washington, DC.
The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit is investigating a fatal shooting in the unincorporated section of Capitol Heights. Detectives are working to confirm the victim’s identity so his family can be notified. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.
On October 5, 2023, at approximately 10:50 pm, officers responded to the 4100 block of Southern Avenue. The victim, an adult male, was located outside suffering from gunshot wounds. He died several hours later at a hospital.
Detectives are working to determine a motive and identify a suspect(s).
