PGPD Investigating Domestic-Related Murder/Suicide

 The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit is investigating a domestic-related murder/suicide inside of a Landover home. The deceased suspect is 38-year-old Curtis Lynch of Landover. The deceased victim is 11-year-old Mailyn Turkes. The suspect is the victim’s stepfather.

On February 28, 2024, at approximately 9:30 pm, officers responded to the 6900 block of Stansbury Lane for a shooting. Officers located the victim and suspect inside of the home suffering from gunshot wounds. They were both pronounced dead a short time later. An adult female was also shot inside of the residence. She is in critical but stable condition. The preliminary investigation revealed Lynch shot both victims before killing himself. The motive for the shooting is under investigation. The adult female victim is related to both the suspect and victim.

Detectives Release Photo of Suspect Linked to Seven Armed Robberies

Updated April 24, 2024: Thanks to information provided to Prince George’s County Crime Solvers, Robbery Unit detectives were able to identify this suspect. The agency’s Fugitive Unit located and arrested him this week. 

The Robbery Unit is seeking the community’s assistance in identifying the suspect wanted in multiple armed robberies at convenience stores. He’s currently linked to seven robberies in the Capitol Heights, District Heights and Suitland areas. A cash reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in these cases.  


The preliminary investigation reveals the suspect most recently committed an armed robbery this morning at a store in the 6200 block of Suitland Road. He’s linked to six additional robberies since February 21, 2024. In each case, the suspect has been armed with a handgun. No one has been injured during these incidents.

Three Additional Suspects in Custody for Murder of DuVal High School Student

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit has identified and charged three more suspects in connection with the murder of a DuVal High School student in Lanham last September. The suspects are 18-year-old Ramon Richardson of Lanham, 18-year-old Cameron Anderson of Landover and a 17-year-old male from Lanham who is charged as an adult. They are each charged in connection with the fatal shooting of 16-year-old Jayda Medrano-Moore of Greenbelt. These arrests bring the total in custody for Jayda’s murder to four.

On September 11, 2023, at approximately 3:45 pm, officers responded to calls for a shooting in the 9800 block of Palamar Drive. The victim was located outside suffering from a gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased a short time later at a hospital.

 

The preliminary investigation revealed the victim was walking on Palamar Drive after leaving school when a fight ensued between two groups who were involved in an on-going dispute. During the fight, a suspect produced a gun. Detectives believe the victim attempted to intervene when she was shot.

 

Through various investigative techniques, Homicide Unit detectives identified the three additional suspects who were taken into custody this morning. Richardson and Anderson are charged with first and second degree murder and related charges. The juvenile suspect is charged with first degree murder. In the days following the murder in September, the PGPD announced the arrest of a 17-year-old male in connection with the fatal shooting.

Fifth Suspect in Custody in Connection With Toddler’s Murder

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit identified and arrested a fifth suspect in connection with the murder of a toddler in Langley Park. The arrested suspect is 25-year-old Nilson Granados-Trejo of no fixed address.

On February 8, 2024, a detective working in the area of the 1400 block of Kanawha Street heard gunfire and attempted to locate a crime scene. The detective discovered two-year-old Jeremy Poou-Caceres suffering from a gunshot wound. The child was pronounced deceased a short time later at a hospital. The toddler’s mother was also shot. Her injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Since the murder, the PGPD has identified and arrested four other suspects – to include a 15-year-old male from Takoma Park and a 16-year-old male from Hyattsville. They are both charged as adults. The Homicide Unit has also arrested 33-year-old Israel Fuentes, Jr., of Lewisdale and 28-year-old Johnny Alejandro Turcios of Lewisdale. The preliminary investigation revealed two groups of males exchanged gunfire near where the victim and his mother were walking. The two victims were not the intended targets.

Granados-Trejo is charged with first and second degree murder. He is in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond Status.

PGPD Investigating Fatal Crash in City of Greenbelt

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision that occurred Friday in the city of Greenbelt. The deceased driver is 17-year-old Erson Cruz of Riverdale. 

On February 23, 2024, at approximately 08:40 am, officers responded to the 7900 block of Kenilworth Avenue for a single-vehicle collision. Once on scene, they located the victim unresponsive. He was pronounced deceased on the scene.

 

The preliminary investigation revealed Cruz was traveling southbound on Kenilworth Avenue, when for reasons now under investigation, his car left the roadway and crashed into a wooded area.

 

The Prince George’s County Police Department investigates fatal crashes that occur in the city of Greenbelt.

Off-Duty Officer Suspended Following Arrest

A Prince George’s County Police officer is suspended without pay following his arrest early this morning. Corporal David Hardester is charged with multiple offenses to include attempted murder in Charles County and with second-degree assault in St. Mary’s County.

The preliminary details reveal Hardester discharged his service weapon during an altercation in Charles County shortly after 1:00 am. The man was not injured. Hardester and the victim are known to each other.  Hardester is also charged with second-degree assault in connection with a domestic incident earlier in the evening at his home in St. Mary’s County.

Corporal David Hardester joined the department in 2005. He is currently assigned to the Bureau of Patrol.

Any questions about the charges against Hardester need to be directed to either the Charles County Sheriff’s Office and/or the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office.

Robbery Unit Releases Video of Suspect Linked to 8 Armed Robberies

 


The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Robbery Unit today released surveillance video and photos of the suspect now linked to multiple armed robberies in recent months. Investigators are seeking the community’s assistance in identifying him. A cash reward is available for information leading to an arrest and indictment.  


The suspect is currently wanted for eight armed robberies at businesses from November 30, 2023, through January 30, 2024. The preliminary investigation shows he has targeted businesses near Livingston Road and Indian Head Highway to include multiple convenience stores, cell phone stores and fast food restaurants. No one was injured during the robberies.

Detectives Recover 30 Kilos of Cocaine; Suspect Taken into Custody

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Gang Unit and Narcotics Enforcement Division recovered approximately 30 kilos of cocaine at a home in the Lewisdale area. The net worth of the seized drugs is more than three million dollars. The suspect is 37-year-old Willians Quintanilla Beltran of the Lewisdale area.




During the course of the investigation, detectives executed a search warrant at the suspect’s home on W Park Drive. A search of the residence revealed approximately 30 kilos of cocaine, 25 ounces of cocaine laced with fentanyl, 37 grams of methamphetamine as well as more than $120,000 in cash. 

The suspect is charged with multiple drug-related offenses and is in the custody of the Department of Corrections. He is being held on a no-bond status.  

The investigative work leading to this substantial seizure was made possible through funding provided by the Maryland Criminal Intelligence Network (MCIN) grant awarded by the Governor's Office of Crime Prevention, Youth, and Victim Services.

Missing Man Found

 Update February 22, 2024: Mr. Webster has been located in good health and reunited with his family.

The Prince George’s County Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in finding a missing man. He is identified as 84-year-old Oscar Webster. He was last seen in the 4600 block of Coopers Lane in Hyattsville at approximately 3:00 pm on February 20, 2024.

Mr. Webster is a black male, 5'11" tall and 230 pounds with brown eyes and white hair. He was last seen wearing a maroon baseball cap, maroon VA Tech sweater, navy blue pants and white sneakers.


Mr. Webster was last seen in a white 2008 Toyota Avalon with Maryland registration of 5ETT19.

PGPD Investigating Fatal Shooting

Detectives with the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the unincorporated section of Bowie. The victim is 35-year-old Tremayne Hall of no fixed address. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.  


On February 19, 2024, at approximately 11:30 pm, officers responded to the 11100 block of Southlakes Drive for a shooting. The officers located an adult male in a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene.


Detectives are working to determine a motive and identify a suspect(s).

PGPD Arrests Suspect in Domestic-Related Murder in Accokeek

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit charged a suspect in connection with the murder of his girlfriend in Accokeek. The suspect is 43-year-old Carl Kearney, Jr. of Griffin, Georgia. The victim is 38-year-old Patrina Best of Accokeek.

On February 17, 2024, at approximately 9:20 am, Kearney walked into the Division V Clinton police station and advised officers he strangled his girlfriend inside of her Accokeek home earlier that morning. The home is in the 800 block of St. James Court. Patrol officers responded to the residence to conduct a welfare check. Once inside, officers located the victim unresponsive. She was pronounced dead on the scene.

During an interview with Homicide Unit detectives, Kearney confessed to strangling the victim during an argument.

Kearney is charged with first and second degree murder and related charges. He is in the custody of the Department of Corrections.

Two Additional Suspects in Custody in Toddler’s Murder

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit has identified and charged two more suspects in connection with the recent murder of two-year-old Jeremy Poou-Caceres. The suspects are a 15-year-old male from Takoma Park and a 16-year-old male from Hyattsville. They are both charged as adults in the case.

Detectives with the PGPD’s Fugitive Unit located both juveniles on Thursday. They are now in the custody of the Department of Corrections charged with first and second degree murder and related charges. The arrest of the two juveniles brings the total in custody for Jeremy’s murder to four. Last week, the Homicide Unit arrested 33-year-old Israel Fuentes, Jr., of Lewisdale and 28-year-old Johnny Alejandro Turcios of Lewisdale. The preliminary investigation revealed Fuentes and Turcios were in a group that exchanged gunfire with a second group near where the victim and his mother were walking on February 8, 2024. The two juveniles arrested on Thursday were a part of the second group involved in the shooting.

Homicide Unit detectives continue to seek assistance from the community in the on-going effort to identify two persons of interest in the case. Investigators released images of the two males on Tuesday.

The second person of interest is seen standing at the counter inside of the store. The Ford Explorer they arrived in had been carjacked earlier that morning in the 1500 block of Kanawha Street in Langley Park. It’s the same SUV the suspects fled in after the toddler’s murder. The Ford Explorer has since been recovered.

Detectives are actively working to identify and arrest all of those involved in this fatal shooting. A reward of up to $25,000 is available for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the suspects.

PGPD Charges Suspect in Connection With Shooting & Kidnapping

Prince George’s County Police Division IV – Oxon Hill investigators charged a man for a shooting Thursday night in Oxon Hill. He’s also charged with kidnapping a young female family member from the shooting scene. She has since been located unharmed. The suspect is 62-year-old Wayne Summers of Oxon Hill.

At approximately 9:05 pm, patrol officers responded to the 7400 block of Livingston Road for a shooting outside of a business. Officers located an adult male with critical injuries and attempted life-saving measures until an ambulance arrived. His injuries are considered life-threatening. The victim is a relative of the suspect. After the shooting, Summers abducted a young girl from the scene. She is also a relative of the suspect.

With the assistance of the PGPD’s Aviation Section and the Metropolitan Police Department, Summers’ vehicle was located at approximately 11:30 pm. MPD officers conducted a traffic stop and took him into custody without incident in the 2600 block of South Capitol Street. The preliminary investigation revealed Summers dropped off the child at another family member’s residence in Washington, DC, prior to his arrest. Officers were able to locate the child unharmed.

Preliminarily, detectives believe the shooting stemmed from an ongoing dispute.

Summers is charged in connection with the shooting as well as with kidnapping the young girl. He remains in custody in Washington, DC, pending extradition to Prince George’s County.

Detectives Release Video of Persons of Interest in Investigation into Toddler’s Murder




Homicide Unit detectives today released video of two persons of interest in the investigation into the murder of two-year-old Jeremy Poou-Caceres in Langley Park last week. Detectives are asking the community to contact us with any information that could help identify and locate the two males seen in the video.





On February 7, 2024, at approximately 9:45 pm, one of the persons of interest is seen on surveillance video exiting a 2003 gold Ford Explorer and walking into a convenience store in the 9200 block of New Hampshire Avenue in Silver Spring. The second person of interest is seen standing at the counter inside of the store. The Homicide Unit has arrested two men in connection with Jeremy’s murder on February 8, 2024. The suspects are 33-year-old Israel Fuentes, Jr., of Lewisdale and 28-year-old Johnny Alejandro Turcios of Lewisdale. The preliminary investigation revealed Fuentes and Turcios were in a group that exchanged gunfire with a second group last Thursday evening near where the victim and his mother were walking. She was also struck by the gunfire and suffered injuries not considered life-threatening. It appears the two victims were unintended targets and struck by stray bullets.


Detectives are actively working to identify and arrest all of those involved in this fatal shooting. A reward of up to $25,000 is available for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the suspects.
