Suspect in Custody for 2020 Homicide in Adelphi

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit identified and charged a man for a fatal shooting in Adelphi in 2020. The suspect is 34-year-old Jose Linares of Alexandria, VA. He’s charged with murdering 21-year-old Payton Marshall of Woodbridge, Virginia.

On September 7, 2020, patrol officers responded to the 1800 block of Metzerott Road. They located the victim inside of a car in a parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The preliminary investigation revealed the suspect and victim were known to each other. The motive remains under investigation.

He’s charged with first and second degree murder, firearms offenses and additional charges. He is in custody in Fairfax County pending extradition to Prince George’s County.

PGPD Homicide Unit Identifies and Charges Suspect in Capitol Heights Murder

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit identified and charged a suspect in connection with a recent fatal shooting in the town of Capitol Heights. The suspect is 36-year-old Troy Medley of Baltimore. He’s charged with murdering 62-year-old Lidia Chinchilla De Carrillo of El Salvador. 

On March 28, 2023, at approximately 9:10 pm, officers with the Capitol Heights Police Department and the PGPD responded to the 600 block of Drum Avenue for a shooting. Officers located the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. She was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced deceased a short time later.

Through various investigative techniques, Homicide Unit detectives identified Medley as the suspect. The preliminary investigation reveals no connection between the suspect and victim. The motive remains under investigation.  

Medley is charged with first and second degree murder, assault, firearms offenses and additional charges. He was taken into custody in the city of Baltimore on April 6, 2023, on unrelated charges. He remains in custody in Baltimore pending extradition to Prince George’s County.

The Prince George’s County Police Department investigates all homicides in the town of Capitol Heights.

Fatal Shooting Under Investigation

Homicide Unit detectives are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Sunday afternoon in the unincorporated section of Laurel. The victim is 20-year-old Kidane Fletcher of Laurel. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.

On April 9, 2023, at approximately 4:35 pm, patrol officers were called to the 13300 block of Edinburgh Lane for a shooting. When they arrived, officers discovered Fletcher inside a building suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene. A second victim, an adult male, was also shot. He is currently in critical condition.

 

Detectives are working to identify a suspect(s) and a motive.

PGPD Investigating Fatal Shooting in Landover

The Homicide Unit is working to identify and arrest the suspect(s) who fatally shot a man Saturday night. The victim is 51-year-old Michael Westpoint of Washington, DC. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case. 

On April 8, 2023, at approximately 11:10 pm, officers responded to the 2600 block of Kent Village Drive for a report of a shooting. Once on scene, officers located Westpoint outside suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on scene.

 

Investigators are working to identify the suspect(s) and determine a motive.
