PGPD Investigates Justifiable Homicide in Hillcrest Heights


Updated May 6, 2013: The decedent is identified as 26-year-old Cordell Antonio Brown, of the 1100 block of Stevens Road in Southeast Washington.

The Prince George’s County Police Department is conducting an investigation into the death of a man in Hillcrest Heights.

On May 5, 2013, at approximately 12:35 am, patrol officers responded to the 4400 block of 23rd Parkway for a shooting. Upon arrival, patrol officers found a man suffering from gunshot wounds.  He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The preliminary investigation reveals the man approached two people who were sitting in a car.  Detectives believe the man was attempting to rob them.  The would-be robber pulled out a handgun during the incident.  A struggle over the handgun ensued between the would-be robber and a man inside the vehicle.  During the struggle, the would-be robber was shot.

The occupants of the vehicle are cooperating with detectives.  No criminal charges are being placed at this time.
