PGPD Investigates Domestic–Related Murder/Suicide in Fort Washington

Lester Lee Fletcher, Jr.

The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating a domestic-related murder/suicide in Fort Washington.  The suspect is identified as 32-year-old Lester Lee Fletcher, Jr., of the 8300 block of Founders Woods Way in Fort Washington.  The victim is identified as 32-year-old Michelle Miranda-Fletcher, of the 7200 block of Jaywick Avenue.

Patrol officers were called to the 7200 block of Jaywick Avenue in Fort Washington just after midnight on April 9, 2014, for a shooting.  When they arrived, they found a woman and man in the parking lot of an apartment complex, both suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.  They were pronounced dead on the scene.

Detectives believe the woman was returning home after celebrating her birthday.  She turned 32 yesterday.  The preliminary investigation suggests the gunman, the woman’s ex-husband, was waiting for her when she arrived.  The suspect drove up to the woman’s car and began to threaten her.   Witnesses reported hearing the man arguing with the woman and then saw him shoot her multiple times.  The gunman then turned the weapon on himself.

Forensic investigators recovered the weapon on the scene.  Detectives have learned the suspect and victim were recently divorced.
