The Prince George’s County Police Department is conducting a death investigation at a Mitchellville golf course. The decedent is 70-year-old Frank Andrew Bartee of Just Street in Northeast Washington. He had been reported missing in the District on April 25, 2015. Preliminarily, no foul play is suspected in connection with his death.
On April 26, 2015, shortly after 5:00 am, members of the Prince George’s County Fire Department responded to the Enterprise Golf Course on Enterprise Road for the report of a car fire. A golf course employee had spotted the fire when he arrived at work.
When members of the fire department extinguished the flames, they discovered Bartee outside of his car. He had suffered severe burns and was pronounced dead on the scene. Members of the Maryland-National Capital Park Police responded to the scene to assume the investigation along with Prince George’s County Police Department homicide detectives.
The preliminary investigation reveals Bartee drove his car onto the golf course and it became stuck in a muddy area. It appears the engine caught fire as Bartee’s attempted to free his car. Detectives are investigating why he initially drove onto the course.
